This restaurant is alright for those people who love pasta and a lot of it. It is no necessarily the best Italian food but they give you so much of it that you feel sick when you leave there. It is a typical chain restaurant but at one point it was a novelty. If you are looking for authentic Italian, go to the North End.

When Bertuccis first came to Amherst, everyone brought their parents here. It was a Sunday night tradition for all of us college students. Now that they are everywhere, it is less of a novelty but it is still nice once in a while. Everyone has had Bertuccis pizza, so we know what it tastes like. But in this college town filled with take out restaurants, it was nice to see a piece of chain food America.

This place has the best sandwiches in Amherst. They have a wide selection of sandwiches but they also sell prepared foods and desserts. If you go, try the fresh mozzarella and pesto sandwich. They stuff tons of mozzarella into a baguette and smother it with pesto. The staff behind the counter are always patient and never pushy. Overall good lunch place.

Antonios is a late night favorite for many college students living in and around Amherst. Nothing is better after a night at the Amherst bars then a slice of fresh mozzarella and basil pizza. During the day, its hard to get into the joint because it is so popular in Amherst. They sell pizza by the pie but mostly by the slice and it is affordable and delicious.

That is what Bueno y Sano stands for in Spanish. The burritos here are so fresh tasting, no more of that refried unhealthy stuff. The beans are fresh and you can get your burrito with just about any wrap, filling, or sauce you want. The sitting area is a typical college restaurant style which means there are tables scattered and you order at the counter and sit to eat. I love Bueno!

The great thing about Judies (well there are several things) is that you can have a burger, vegetarian or otherwise, anyway you like. I ordered a veggie burger with mushrooms, it was delicious. When I am back in town again, I am going to hit Judies. The local critics rave about the popovers. I personally have never had a popover but if I had, I would probably have gotten it from this restaurant. The restaurant itself is in a house which is kind of charming and adds to the downtown Amherst feel. I would recommend Judies for anyone in Amherst.

This place is awesome for used CDs and records. The store is small but there is a lot crammed into the small space. They have tons of vinyl records and used CDs. The staff are usually five college students but are usually very helpful in helping you find what you need. I have bought so many used CD from this store. I even bought a bunch of tapes way back when they still had cassette players in cars.

This place was meant for a college town. Whatever you want you can have in the form of a calzone and they will deliver it to your door. This take out joint was meant for Amherst. My personal favorite is the spinach and feta calzone. It has tons of garlic and they give you a sauce to dip it in. It is heaven.

The ice cream at Herrells is creamy, cool, and delicious. They have the best sundaes and smoosh ins. This storefront is a walk through to the busy Thornes Marketplace but has some off to the side booths that you can stop and enjoy your cone in. If its a hot day, your better off heading outside and enjoying your ice cream in the sun while you people watch. All in all a great place. P.S. Try their Herrells hot fudge, its homemade, delicious, and they sell it at a lot of independent organic grocery stores.

The Eastside Grill is a carnivores dream in the mostly vegetarian town of Northampton. They grill up steak, lobster, and different types of burgers. Of course they also have selections for vegetarians (although not as plentiful). They Portabello burgers are great. If you are strict veg, you have to ask them to grill it in a separate pan. The atmosphere is a little more stuffy than those of other restaurants in town but after a drink, you can definitely unwind.
