I may be biased because I grew up with Krekel burgers, but I think they are the best in the whole world. I don’t live near “home” now, but I often find myself craving one of Krekel’s simple little burgers. I don’t know what it is about them…it’s just a regular burger….but they are fantastic. The fries…I could do without. They are crinkle style and are too soggy for my liking. My perfect summer day ends with a Krekel burger with the works and a chocolate milkshake.

Brandt’s has such a nice, cozy atmosphere, though it’s not intimate….your neighbor’s table is practically right on top of yours and you have to stick your butt right in their plate of food if you want to have any hope of getting out of your chair to leave the establishment. The lights are dim, live music softly plays in the background….it’s a great setting for some cheesecake and foo-foo drink.

Every time I go to Cicero’s, I feel cramped in and claustrophobic. The food is decent, but expect watered down drinks if you’re there for the alcohol. Be careful if your date leaves you for a trip to the bathroom because creepy old men are lurking in the shadows waiting to pounce on you the second your date leaves the table. If you’re a female, don’t use the bathroom here…it’s disgusting.

Located right in the heart of “the loop” as the locals call it, Vintage Vinyl has a little bit of something for everyone and if you purchase used items, you can save a considerable amount of money. Also, live bands play sometimes, which is cool to check out as you’re bar hopping on a Friday night.

There is no food I love more than ice cream. It’s one of my personal food groups. Forget “dairy products,” I’ve got ice cream! Imagine my thrill when I was driving to work one day and saw a Ben & Jerry’s store was coming soon, not too far from my office. You can get flavors in the store that you can’t get in grocery stores and you can order up a pint of anything to take home with you. I am very much looking forward to the free scoop day that is coming up here at the end of April.

Another great place to get ice cream. Any type of ice cream joint that mixes your toppings and ice cream on a cold marble slab is OK in my book. Marble Slab Creamery has a huge selection of ice cream, waffle cones and toppings so the combinations are virtually endless. The employees don’t really seem too into their job, but since you’re not forced to tip, who cares? The ice cream is great!

Hands down this is the best pizza in the world. One day last year, my husband and I were in Chicago, we decided to visit a random pizzeria and this was the first one we came to. Now, each time we’re in Chicago, we go back and will continue to do so as I don’t see us ever getting tired of the world’s best pizza. You can even go online to their website and have it delivered to you packed in dry ice…just pop it in the oven to cook.

I like shopping at this Schnucks because even though it is located right in the middle of suburbia, there is never a long line and I have never had to wait more than 1 minute to get a cashier/self-checkout kiosk. The salad bar food is often not fresh, with wilting lettuce/mixed greens, but if you ask
someone to change it out, they are more than happy to do it for you. This grocery store is pricey, so I try not to shop here for things that I could get of the same quality at a discount grocery store. I do purchase all of my meats and fresh herbs here because they are of high quality.

I always enjoy shopping at any Target store, including this one. The layout is nice and easy to navigate, department signs are clearly displayed, there is always a wide selection of merchandise to choose from and they have a lot of cute, stylish affordable clothes in a variety of sizes. There is also a Pizza Hut restaurant inside of this Target, which is nice to stop in at to get a snack before heading home. The cashiers here are usually very friendly and the gift registry is easy to use/navigate.
