Golden Corral is where we often find ourselves when my family can’t decide on one type of food for dinner. We love the convenience of the buffet – we don’t have to wait for someone to take our order and then wait for them to bring our food. We can see what we’re getting and can try a little of everything. There has never been a time when I haven’t found something delicious on the buffet. They have an extensive salad bar and a fabulous dessert selection. Their banana pudding alone makes it a place worth visiting.

If you need a place for a good, hearty sit-down breakfast, Brigs is your place. Conveniently located in a shopping center on Creedmoor Road, the service is friendly and the food is delicious. Any breakfast food you could want is on the menu - if it's not, they can probably make it. It’s fairly pricey, but you get a lot of food and worth it if you want to eat your fill.

If you're looking for good, cheap Mexican food this is your place. My husband and I discovered Torero's five years ago and have been eating there since. It is the only place I know where we can get a combination platter with three entrées, paired with beans and rice, eat our fill and take home leftovers - all for under $10! The added bonus: if you go on the weekend you get to enjoy a live mariachi band!

A lot of people I know think El Rodeo is the place to go for cheap, tasty Mexican food. I will agree that the food is cheap, but I haven’t found it to be horribly good any time I’ve been. The food is heavy and greasy and isn’t served with so much as a shred of lettuce to make it remotely digestible.

Moe's is our family’s new favorite place for take-away Mexican food. Offering a variety of selections made right before your eyes, there is no doubting what is in your food. My favorite is the homewrecker burrito – a monstrous concoction that I can only finish if I want to be stuffed for a week. Their entrees are all served with their fresh tortilla chips in three colors – red, blue and yellow. The only downside to Moe's? Some of their ingredients, the meats especially, seem to be quite salty.

Some of their combinations may seem unusual at first, but are always good. They offer decently priced children’s meals that include a small dessert rather than a dumb toy. This is where I prefer to pick up meals for the kids instead of those standard fast-food places.

Kanki is a good choice for people who want some entertainment with their dinner and aren’t afraid to pay for it. Instead of regular tables, restaurant patrons are seated around grills where a trained chef will cook your food in front of you. Meals start with soup and salad, continue with a shrimp appetizer, then finish with your choice of meats and vegetables served with fried rice. Top everything with their special sauce for pure eating heaven. I have never been disappointed.

Barbeque Lodge is far and away my favorite barbeque place. With its all you can eat family style dining, we have never run out of barbeque, fried chicken, hushpuppies or slaw. Here macaroni and cheese is considered a vegetable. While not a good choice for people who are watching their weight, it is definitely a satisfying eating experience.

I love the Farmers Market. To me, there are few things more delightful than strolling through a corridor of fresh produce, sampling fresh peaches and strawberries as I go. This is definitely the place to go if you are looking for the best prices and quality of seasonal produce. You do have to watch, however, as some vendors try to pass off yesterday’s produce as today’s fresh picked. The produce you buy here will be better than any you can find in the store. In addition to produce, they have a wonderful selection of flowers, herbs and greenery.
