I was very pleased with Bruce Zabinsky. I popped into his practice years ago when I was new in town and overdue for a cleaning. I was able to secure an initial appointment quickly and never had trouble getting an appointment when I needed one. I found Dr. Zabinsky to be not only a gentle dentist, but a friendly person as well. I would recommend him without the slightest hesitation.

I always enjoy going to TJ Maxx, especially when I’m not looking for something in particular. I like that I never know quite what I’ll find. I’ve found this is a great place to get children’s books and toys. I have found nice board books marked down to a reasonable price as well as the nice wooden Melissa and Doug toys. TJ Maxx is a store where I can expect to find something for someone in my family even if it’s not for me!

I love Big Lots because you never know what you'll find there. Over the years we have gotten everything from nice children's size cutlery to picture frames to shelving/storage units to cookware. It's one of the places I always check when I'm shopping for stocking stuffers. It has the variety of a small discount store and the prices are usually very reasonable. I have found the cashiers at this location to be particularly friendly.

Every time I go home, my mother and I go here for lunch. This quaint little eatery offers a fabulous menu of interesting entrees and unique takes on old standard fare. I have found the Vermonte Cristo to be absolutely delicious, one of my favorite things on the menu, along with their roast beef sandwich. They also have terrific salads and the best peanut butter pie I've ever tasted.

So another time some friends decided to throw a 70s party and my roommates and I needed some polyester attire. We hit it big at Amvets – they had this huge rack of 70s dresses, as if they knew we were coming. I bought the loveliest fuchsia polyester dress, complete with accordion pleats that zig-zagged at the bottom. We didn’t have time to wash them so we just sprayed them down with Lysol and let them air out for a while. We were the best dressed at the party. Thanks, Amvets!

One cold day I was walking through Brookline, on my way home, when it started to snow. It came out of nowhere and came down hard, so by the time I got halfway down Harvard Street my feet were wet, my hair was covered in snowflakes and I got it in my mind that the best thing in the world would be a corned beef sandwich with a kosher dill pickle. Fortunately, Rubin’s was right there. No one was in the restaurant, save the employees, and the kind man at the deli, sympathetic at the sight of the abominable snowgirl that I was, gave me my pickle for free. And then there was that really hot summer when I decided I couldn’t cook because it would overheat my already sweltering apartment, so I picked up a week’s worth of corned beef and chopped liver. This is one of the places I always revisit when I return to Boston.

Ten Thousand Villages is a fun store to shop at because they offer tons of products that you couldn’t imagine seeing anywhere else. They import products from around the world and support artisans from across the globe. I believe a portion of their proceeds go toward social causes. I bought a beautiful black clay nativity there that I receive many comments on every year.

Kabloom is one of my all-time favorite flower shops. I’m not quite sure why, but I’m sure a lot has to do with the name. Kabloom! It’s so exciting to say! And the flower arrangements I’ve seen there are exciting to look at. Although they offer standard floral arrangements, they do many that are on the cutting edge of floral design.

I couldn’t wait to get married so I could come here and register for these white and blue striped mixing bowls that they displayed in the window. I used to walk by and admire them (I’m a little bit of a cooking fanatic), though I didn’t go in frequently since I carried a large backpack at the time and was afraid of knocking over one of the many displays of precariously stacked glassware. On the times I did go in, I was impressed with the selection, the quality of the merchandise and the high level of customer service I received.
