Sillari is the realty company that owns our apartment and it has been an interesting ride since we moved in. The realtor told us that Sillari would replace the carpets, put in new appliances, and paint the place before we moved in, and so the rent price of the apartment was raised accordingly. We move in and nothing has been replaced, in fact, the carpets stunk. Sillari refused to lower our rent to compensate for their lack of work, but the realty company came through and refunded us our money. When we first moved in we also complained about our refrigerator since it seemed to be leaking. When their repair guy came out, he said that it needed new insulation and never came back again. Oddly, our electric bills kept getting higher and higher until we discovered that it was the shoddy refrigerator that was causing this. We got in touch with Sillari and they promptly gave us a new refirigerator--the fact that it was prompt suggests they knew we had the upper hand, but in the end, trying to get back the money we lost via electricity bills is just one more battle. In general, this company isn't he worst, but be wary of them!

I've spent many hours at Espresso studying, reading, or visiting with my husband. The coffee is great and so are the bagels and sweets. The service is usually friendly, but sometimes you have to watch out for the occasional hipster with a bad attitude lurking behind the counter. There is always interesting music playing which is fun. I've actually added a few bands to my listening line-up through Espresso. As far as the environment, the place is usually full of BU students and the occasional snooty hipster or grad student. Not too shabby a place :)

My husband bought my engagement ring here. It's a great place for the consumer who knows literally nothing about jewelry, since you are guaranteed high quality items. Unfortunately, there is a steep price to pay for ignorance. The ring my husband bought could have been purchased for half as much elsewhere, but that's just (literally) the price you pay to shop at Tiffany's. The other downside was the customer service I received when I came in to have the ring sized. The man who helped me was very cold--not the kind of service you expect when paying that kind of money.

I used to work here, so I've tried just about everything they have to offer, my favorite item being the coconut chocolate chip cookie. Come early and get them while they're still warm and fresh! Paradise is great in that they don't use any artificial ingredients or preservatives The sandwiches and other items are average, depending on whoever made it, which can vary from fresh to not so fresh. The asian wrap is pretty good if it's fresh--can't beat the coconut rice in it!

I love this store, from the clothes and furniture they have on the inside to the design and look of it on the outside. I love coming here to browse and look through their vintagey-styled items. If I had the money, my entire wardrobe would consist of only clothes from anthropologie, but alas, their prices aren't for the poor! (my only complaint:)

Being that this place is on Newbury (the newbury trend seems to favor atmosphere and hype over food quality), I didn't expect a whole lot, but was pleasantly suprised. I am no steak-connoisseur, but I thoroughly enjoyed my filet mignon. The spinach salad with bacon vinaigrette was also very delicious and the service was amazing. The prices are obviously quite high, but it's a great place to visit for a special occasion or a little splurge.

Before booking this hotel, I researched it on citysearch any website I could find that reviewed it. Every place mentioned it as one of the best luxury hotels in all of Boston. I can't say it was bad, but for the amount of money we paid, I expected more. The food in the mini-bar was stale. The LCD in the bathroom was broken (I know, who needs an LCD in the bathroom, but if you got one, shouldn't it work?:). The fireplace would not turn on and we needed someone to come up and fix it. These are little things, but for $400 a night, they should all work! The room was very nice though and the rooftop garden was lovely. The continental breakfast was also quite good.

A cheap, Italian place with booth seats and a very casual atmosphere. The pizza and hamburgers are ok, nothing special. I haven't tried the pasta yet. I recommend this place as a cheap bite to eat in Somerville. On the plus side, they offer alcohol, so you can have a glass of beer or wine with your pasta--not something you can do in most pizza, quick-food type places.

I used to love going to Jillian's to play video games and mess around in the arcade. They've tidied up the place, making it more sleek and adult, but I still miss the fun atmosphere it once had. I enjoy going to Jillians every once in awhile when it is empty to sit in the lounge, watch TV, and drink a beer. I'd visit more often, but pool and drinking adds up!

I switched from Umass Amherst to Umass Boston a few years ago, so I'm able to compare the two. Umass Boston is a great commuter school in that it is inexpensive, small, and accessible to a wide variety of people. In general though, I don't feel that the education is all that great. The amosphere is very urban, so unless you're that type of person, it's not the most comfortable environment. I recommend Umass Boston for continuing education or possibly graduate studies, but not for a full fledged bachelors program.
