IRCA is a really odd place to shop in an odd neighborhood. But if you are looking for some decent décor, or even décor in bulk this is the place for you. The location is an outlet for hotel furniture. Depending on where it came from, there are varying levels of the stuff being used. I always go there first for lamps and shades. You can pick up a cheap set very cheap. There are some nicer choices from time to time but you pay more. I love to go and check it all out, and you should too.

Ross is a great place to find some deals. This is a nice location, central to a lot of other places to shop. I always end up with sunglasses, and scarves and occasionally a pair of shoes. There are decent clearance areas, but you do have to dig a little. The store is generally pretty dirty and dusty, but I figure that is the price you pay for discount. The service is slow and spotty, but better that, then paying retail.

The staff is fun and helpful. I did this alone as a fun way to pass a day off, but it would have been oodles more fun with a couple of friends. Check out their flyers for deals, because you can save a bundle, and have all the more to paint.

If you are decorating your home, take all your money to the Great Indoors. They have spectacular items for the house. The selection is different every time I go there, and I always find something I love to take home. The tile selection is first rate- and the prices are comparable to Home Depot. Bear in mind, this isn’t a place to get cheap tile cheap, but rather expensive tile cheap. We bought travertine for $3 a square foot and it is fabulous. I highly suggest this location.

The smells are incredible, and everything has a tester so you can try it out. The associates are upbeat and personable, and will help you find what you need. I suggest the foaming foot scrub and pumice stone for starters. For a great finish, try some of their cut to order soaps. Careful- they are very pricey—I paid $18 for a chunk that was equivalent to 2 bars of Dove soap. But the soap was so incredible- rose scented- but not too sweet.

Ikea is a humongous place to shop. I literally spent hours at this location. I actually got lost. I have quite a few deals here. I especially like the lingonberry jelly. The furniture is Euro styled, and is quite small. For an apartment or dorm situation, Ikea is perfect. For today’s huge houses, I imagine the furniture would like might funny. As for décor, there are some great ideas. The bedding is excellent, as well as the floor coverings selection. If you into plants in the house, there is a great area for pots and vases and plants themselves. I only bought food on this trip, but I would suggest this place, at least once, to check it out for yourself.

The Red Door Spa is a pretty nice place to go for some pampering. The location looks small, but it is space very well used. I got a 90 minute massage, and I was in pure heaven. I almost fell asleep I was so soothed. The prices are higher than the average massages in Phoenix, but this is the Biltmore area, so for that, the prices are probably right in line. The therapists were professional and courteous, and the environmental was quite soothing. If you’ve got a couple hundred dollars to spend on pampering, I suggest this location.

I am not a big fan of CVS overall. I find drugstores to be expensive, and this one is no different. There are the periodic advertised sales, but even with coupons added to the sales, I rarely feel motivated enough by the deals to make the drive over to the store. The service is ok, and the stores are clean enough, but that is about it.

Apothecary Shops is a different kind of pharmacy. This is a location I have visited a few times, and I really enjoy the waiting area. The floors are embedded with garnet chunks, and are surrounded by some fairly unique tiles. There is a leather sofa, and a tv to watch. There is also a nice looking fish tank. The service is a lot more personable here than at any drugstore I have been to. There are no giant glass windows to try and talk to, and the associate’s are patient and understanding. No one enjoys being sick or needing a pharmacy, but when I have had need, this was much more comforting experience.

David’s Bridal was a place I went once… My sister wanted me to be in her wedding, so she asked me to go check out some dresses and give her feedback. I had to wait forever to get an “appointment” in the store. Apparently, one can not just check things out and try dresses on. I waited forever, and once I got the illustrious dressing room, the service was awful, and frankly, downright rude. We wanted dresses that did not require “special bras” but the associate would not let me into the room without the use of their “special bra.” I selected a few dresses, and had the wrong sizes, and it was impossible to get help with new sizes. I had to have my husband go pick the dresses, and then he got chastised for doing so. We did not buy dresses here, and thank goodness for that!
