This place ('the place' -haha!) was recommended to me by a friend at law school who said it was a really cute, romantic underground restaurant with good food. And, for the most part, I have to agree with her - it was a cozy spot, dimly lit, and the food was very good (*including* the main dishes!). I have to say that it wasn't exactly what I was expecting when it comes to 'underground' restaurants though: maybe I'm spoiled, but I remember a place back in England where I went which was *really* underground: it was a wine celler turned into a lovely, fresh and sexy restaurant. But this place was good too - tiny, kind of expensive, but cute. Worth a try.

This restaurant is pretty basic when it comes to decor (I felt over-dressed when I went), but it's also pretty small and quiet, and a nice place to go if you enjoy the company and want to have good conversation over good food. Like many restaurants, the appetizers and deserts were the best, while the main dish was only so-so; if you go, I'd highly recommend getting the chocolate fondue or cake; it was absolutely delicious. High-priced, but a nice place.

This place has INCREDIBLE Vietnamese food for really cheap prices. Almost all the vegetable/meat combo dishes I've had there have been wonderful & fresh (the only thing I didn't like once was some sort of plain beef dish); and, while the 'decor' of the place is pretty terrible (the place is also crowded, cramped and loud), what better incentive can you ask for to to take out/order in and cuddle up with your significant other for the night? Delivery is quick, and I've never had a problem in all the years I've ordered from this place.

I like this place much better than GNC. Even though GNC gives me cash back at Upromise.com, I think the prices at Vitamin Shoppe are generally lower (and additionally, you can coupons/money back if you shop there enough). The place also has the feel of an overrun book shop, with disorganized shelves and ladders that the workers use to get hard-to-reach boxes/bottles. Furthermore, their bar selection, is far superior in my opinion. I'm a big fan of genisoy bars, and only Vitamin Shoppe carries them.

My ex-boyfriend took me here awhile ago, thinking I'd recognize it from Sex and the City (and truthfully - he was right to think so, considering there's a ridiculously huge and hard-to-miss budda at the back of the restaurant), but I didn't, unfortunately. He also complained the whole time about how expensive the meal was and how the food itself wasn't that great. As a result, I didn't have the best time.. I think I remember really enjoying the atmosphere of the place, but if I don't remember the food being that good, it could be because he biased me. I'd recommend going if only because of the SATC connection. :)

Carrie went here for her birthday in Sex and the City - what else can you ask for? This is a lovely, busy and cozy Italian restaurant with very good food, and even better service. Make sure to get some wine (so that the waiter dotes on you/flirts with you to make sure you like it). Lots of very attractive couples in the room and apparently its a hot spot for famous people (though I didn't see any while there). Also not a bad place to meet the parents (this time it was my bf's turn)... Again, kind of expensive, but less so than Bouley or Daniel.

Wonderful! Perfect! Cozy and incredible food, lovely and.. did I say perfect yet? This place and Daniel are my two favorite restaurants in the city so far. While Daniel is more romantic and date-like.. Bouley is somehow more comfy, and the kind of place you can meet your bf/gf's parents at for the first time (wink!), without feeling overly constrained. Everything I had here was delicious, and because it was my bf's birthday, they brought out an entire table's full of cake and random goodies at the end. Very expensive, but also wonderful! (Random: There are free apples in the lobby for you to take at the end.. I guess if you pick enough of them you can sell them and try to make back some of the money you spent at dinner!).

Kind of overrated. Of course this place is exquisite and the food is incredible (I *highly* recommend the duck).. but despite the lovely, calm, spacious and modern feel to the restaurant, I kind of felt like the place lacked a soul. Is that weird? It just felt dead or something. But maybe I went on an off night. The name still sounds incredible ("I took my gf/bf to the four seasons!"); and it's a great excuse to get dressed up. Enjoy!

The jury is still out on this place. With a really weird, bearded cartoon man billboard hanging right above the store (scaring customers away), and an oddly (yellow?) decorated interior (mixing modern with the 70's?), this place has an odd assortment of foods to pick from (salads and cream puffs), which still leaves me feeling confused about this place. The cream puffs/deserts here are supposed to be amazing, but I've had a mixed experience: the eclairs and cream puffs with traditional vanilla filling were pretty hohum. The cream puffs I had filled with mocha cream, however, were delicious. Go and check it out for yourself.

This lovely French chocolatier is a fantastic place to spend your Valentine's Day. With everything decorated in pink, and chocolates and great food, what's not to love? I guess the prices are kind of steep, and the cakes look much better than they taste, but the rest of the food in the small cafe part of the store is surprisingly incredible. Sit down, feel French, and enjoy the day with your sweetheart.
