Arosa is a cute little coffee and waffle shop. The owner is a doll, and the prices are very good. It's a welcome change from Starbucks, and the waffles are delicious, just a little sweet with a touch of cinnamon. Once when I went in for coffee at the end of the day, the owner gave me two waffles for free since he was closing. But be careful, he closes at 4 PM!

Take 2 is a great inexpensive consignment shop on Capitol Hill. I was impressed by the quality and selection of the clothes, even though the store is small. While the prices are higher than you'd find at Value Village, I think that the quality is worth it. They also sell some new clothes at very good prices and some lovely jewelry, also very decent prices. Not many accessories other than the jewelry. Overall I was very impressed with this little shop.

The essential bakery is an upscale french style bakery. They have many varieties of breads in addition to quiches, crepes, soups and sandwiches. While the soups and sandwiches sound very good, they were a bit heavy for my taste, especially the broccoli soup. Desserts, on the other hand, were light and heavenly. I would certainly return here for pastries and desserts, but I will get my soup and sandwiches elsewhere. Expect a crush on weekends, the Madison location is quite popular.

Daly's makes the best chocolate shake in Seattle! And if chocolate isn't your style, they have about 20 other options for you to mix and match. Their burgers are big and have all the fixings. They also do great chicken, veggie burgers or fish and chips. Nothing says summer like fries and a shake, so I was really excited to find a place that does them well. The decor is nonexistent, but you can look out to Lake Union from the back. I highly recommend this restaurant for all of your comfort food needs.

The Frontier Room is a fun place to eat a lot of meat. It's pretty trendy, so it's best to make a reservation on the weekends if you have a group. There are boths in the back as well, to get away from the louder bar area. All of the barbeque is delicious, but the portions are ridiculously large. Be prepared to either waste a lot of food or take a doggie bag home. Their mac-n-cheese is creamy and delicious, and even the hush puppies hold their own. A very tasty, very fattening meal washed down with strong drinks.

Rising Sun is an excellent all year produce stand. Their fruits and vegetables are almost always fully ripe, a great change from the hard and unripe fruits at many grocery stores. You may have to pick through a bit to find good pieces, but their prices can't be beat. They don't usually have organic produce, but the selection is fantastic. They also sell some local products, honey and breads, and some dried fruits.

American Apparel is a great place to buy the basics, t-shirts, tank tops, knit pants and shirts. Their business is based in LA and sweatshop free, and prices are decent for good quality cotton. The sizes do run a bit small for women, but the choice of colors is fantastic. I found that some of the salespeople had a bit of attitude, but they didn't hover or try to sell too hard. Overall the store made a good impression on me.

Hancock fabric has a great selection of quilting fabric and tons of. They also have a good range of decorator fabrics. Sewing and needlework accessories (including yarn, embroidery thread, and knitting needles) are also available. I was impressed by how many special occassion fabrics they had, though they seemed a bit out of date. Lots of flannel and a few seasonal apparel fabrics. Some patterns, but not a huge selection.

Vios is a great place for a small group of people. The dinner menu has all of the greek staples, including an amazing moussaka. They also have a selection of salads and soup for lunch or those who want a smaller meal. They also serve Greek wine. Vios is also a good place to buy deli meats, olive oil or other imports. The atmosphere is great for a casual yet classy meal. Don't forget dessert, sweet baklava or gelato.

Agua Verde is a great place for lunch or drinks on the water. Their servings are generous, and the drinks are tasty, especially during happy hour when the prices go down. Make sure to try to Tunarita, a prickly pear juice drink. The restaurant is often crowded because of its proximity to the UW, so be prepared to wait a bit for your food. During the warmer months you can sit out on the deck and watch people paddling by.
