The Egyptian is a great theatre for the old time feeling of a small town theatre. Only one new film at a time, plus weekend midnight showings of old cult classics. They have popcorn and candy as well as a coffe stand to keep you awake for the late show. While the theater itself is a bit run down, it has much more character and atmosphere than any of the big shiny multiplexes. The actual theatre is spacious and has a great art deco egyptian design. Cheezy but fabulous. And they still have matinee prices for matinees, something that seems to be disappearing in Seattle!

Every afternoon I walk by Piecora's on my way home to make dinner, and it's always a temptation to just slip inside for a quick slice. Piecora's makes an excellent pie. their restaurant reminds me of the pizza places I ate in as a kid, white and red checked table cloths, fountain soda, neon and parmesan and pepper flakes on each table. It's a great place to get together with friends. The calzones are huge and delicious as well.

My husband and I were given a gift certificate to ACT for a wedding present, and it was by far the best gift we got. We were able to see four shows, and all were excellent. The theatres are small, so that every performance is intimate. While we didn't always enjoy the subject of the play, we were always impressed with the actors and the staging of each show. Their Christmas Carol is wonderful. Patrons under 25 can see the shows very inexpensively as well. We will certainly go back.

My husband and I always disagree on where to get pizza. He likes super thin crust, while I like a slightly thicker, moister dough. But we both agree on Romio's. Their pizzas are delicious, as are the calzones. We order for delivery and get our order much faster than other places. The garlic cheese sticks are great, and the salads are decent as well. I'm a huge fan!

Udupi has very tasty south Indian food. I recommend it to anyone who's never tried south Indian food before, it's surprisingly different than the traditional curries of most Indian restaurants. We found the service and value to be excellent. The sambar and coconut chutney were both quite good (the staples of this type of food). While the restaurant itself is a bit blah, I would certainly go back. But watch out for the gulab jamum, they were rubbery!

I've been to Jamjuree twice now, and it's certainly my favorite thai food in capitol hill. the menu isn't huge, but the food is delicious. they have all the classics as well as some other delicious dishes, like lamb. They serve both white and brown rice, as well as sweet sticky rice for dessert. The service is always quick, and the decor is beautiful. My only complaint is that their 4 star spice isn't very hot.

The Cabrini pharmacy is a very fast, convenient pharmacy in First Hill. They do walk-ins, and if you call in your order first they'll have it ready within minutes. The staff are very helpful, if a bit uncommicative on the phone. they're always extremely polite and respectful of people's privacy in the store.

My husband and I have been using the Seattle Public Libraries to check out DVDs for the last year and half. I know a lot of people who love Netflicks, but the great thing about the library is that it's free for everyone! You only have to pay if you're late, and then it's only $0.15 a day. Their selection is fantastic, though you do have to wait for new releases if they're popular. Check out time is 3 weeks, so you can watch your selections at your leisure, and the limit is something like 100 items at a time. We simply order our movies online and pick them up at the branch closet to our house, which emails us when they are ready for pick up, and four days before they're due.

I recently used brown paper tickets to buy seats for a local performance. their website is very straitforward, no extra crap on screen. The listed ticket price included any service fees, and after I had purchased my tickets I got to choose which charity I wanted to donate to. They donate a percentage of each transaction to charity! I didn't have to pay extra to have my tickets sent to me, and they arrived in 48 hours through normal mail. I was extremely impressed, and I recommend this service to anyone selling tickets in Seattle.
