All along Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, you'll find some terrific restaurants without the kind of crowds that are common on South Beach or Las Olas.
One of my favorite spots is Cabana, which features a nice Spanish menu and an beautiful bar area. As with most of the restaurants along Atlantic, the atmosphere is casual, and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. There are many shops along Atlantic as well, so sitting outside provides a good opportunity for people watching.
Cabana makes a nice mojito (try the unique berry mojito for a different spin on the traditional mint flavor).

Delray Beach is one of those rare waterfront areas in South Florida that hasn't quite become overdeveloped yet. Most of the area along the hasn't yet been built up beyond two stories. All along the beach you can find some nice places to eat with a great view of the beach. Shore restaurant is one of those places.
Shore features a nice menu for either lunch or dinner. The front of the restaurant is open, so seating inside or out is both comfortable and casual. Shore has a nice two level bar that serves up a nice mojito. The service is friendly and there's usually a nice modern music track playing in the background. Highly recommended for a business lunch or for just hanging out on the weekend.

Although it has improved somewhat, MIA is still one of the worst airports in the country in my opinion. Long walks from the gate to the baggage areas, poor signage to direct you, very crowded walkways, and undersized waiting areas are just a few of the many reasons that MIA will cause you heartburn. There are many internation flights from MIA, but many lower cost domestic carriers (Southwest, JetBlue) do not land here. Fort Lauderdale is a good alternative if you don't mind the 30 - 45 minute drive.

After last year's rash of storms, we decided to install accordion hurricane shutters to replace the metal panel type that we currently own. After doing some research, we decided on Sea View, a company that's been around Miami for many years.
Initially, we were told that our installation would take place in 6 - 8 weeks. Our actual installation time was 9 MONTHS! Our neighbors also signed up with Sea View and had a very similar experience. Despite many calls, letters, and in person visits to the Sea View offices, we were consistently given false information about the status of our install or otherwise outright lied to. Only after threatening legal action were we able to get our installation to happen.
This is the kind of customer experience that not only disappoints you but leaves you wondering if anyone at the company even cares at all. After months of waiting, there was no discount or even an apology offered for the unbelievable lack of effort.
Our advice: avoid this company at all costs.

Ortanique on the Mile can give any restaurant in Miami a run for its money for quality of food, service, and atmosphere. The style of food can best be described as Jamaican/Caribbean. I've never been disappointed with any meal, from steaks to lamb chops, to various fish dishes, everything is flavorful (not spicy) and delicious.
Be sure to arrive early for your reservations so that you'll have a chance to relax at the bar with what surely must be the best mojito in all of Miami. Ask for Joel behind the bar.

Ruson is really two restaurants in one: a hibachi style steak house on one side and a sushi bar on the other side. If you like Benihana, Ruson is a great alternative with better service and more reasonable prices. As with any hibachi grill, the show you get will vary widely, depending on who your chef is at any given sitting. The location is a little off the beaten path, which means there's almost never much of a wait, even on the weekends.
