Like most Landmark Theaters, The Neptune is way more appealing and interesting than the behemoth chain theaters found on every corner from here to Suburbia. I have a soft spot for The Neptune in particular, as it was the first movie theater I patronized upon moving to Seattle.
The single screen theater has old school appeal and a nautical theme, a tasty concession, lots of free indie film literature, and a delightful balcony I've never been able to resist. I would issue a warning regarding a slight stuffiness to the top tier, however that impression is probably always skewed by my consumption of a near industrial sized box of Dots.
Charming.

Tup Tim Thai was okay. Ambivalence is the best they're going to get out of me. For months I heard the rants and raves that surround local, often underground, favorites. I finally took a stab at it a few weeks ago and was decidedly un-wowed.
The place was bustling, which was to be expected in accordance with the favorable buzz that drew me in the first place. Counterpoint to the wait for a table - our food did come out especially fast. I ate the majority of it. I didn't strongly dislike it. It was all right. Somewhat satisfactory. Tolerable. Adequate. Sufficient.
I'm completely bewildered as to why it's such a favorite. I give it a shrug.

There's something bizarrely popmous about a business named the War Room that uses the tagline "Peace is our Profession". They almost always have a cover and it's generally pretty congested with people too hip for their own good.
That said, it's actually a pretty fun place to go dancing. I haven't been often (again...the cover) but had a good experience. The have an open access roof top for when it's too crowded and fairly large dance floor with an eclectic mirage of politcal leaders and dictators to watch over you.
Nothing too amazing, but better than some of it's other capitol hill contemporaries.

When you've been driving the same 4 door sedan since you got your drivers license, getting auto service can be relatively tramatic. With over 200,000 miles under her belt, my Oldsmobile and I sometimes disagree on whether or not it's appropriate for her to be fully functional. Or even start. That said, I've been towed to Quality Auto Service twice in the last 10 months.
Both times I received reasonably quick and pleasant service. Prices were acceptable to average. My only complaint is that I always have to call for status updates, despite them saying they'll call as soon as it's done. However once you do get them on the phone they're helpful and agreeable.
Overall a positive experience. As positive as your only means of transportation (and companionship?) breaking down can be.

Portage Bay Cafe is great for breakfast and brunch on the weekends, albeit it's consistently crowded. They're really good about addressing this fact and doing what they can to make the wait more pleasant. Great pancake bar with fresh fruit, and tons of other tasty choices including astounding Challah French toast, chai oatmeal or the ranchers breakfast which guarantees a consequent four hour food coma nap.
They're not overly pretentious or in your face about the fact they're organic and fair trade and as my title mentions, they have a mug on the front counter that simply says 'I Hate Bill O'Reilly'. I laugh. Every time.
I don't believe they serve alcohol or mimosas however. I've found the best bet to avoid chastisement when it comes to mid morning drinking is the Rusty Pelican, for which my review can be found here:

I'm skeptical that anyone enjoys taking a cab, but I virtually refuse if it's yellow cab. If I call for a cab pickup to my apartment, more often than not the dispatcher's voice evolves into some sort of shriek and then hangs up on me sans farewell.
The cab shows up either later than predicted, not at all, or they pick someone else up outside of my building - either way there's consistently a frustrated follow up call from me. The few times I've actually progressed to the point of getting into a cab, I feel like I've seen it all. Cabbies in screaming matches with their dispatchers, cabbies asking inappropriate questions, the works.
You run all these risks with any cab, but from my experience you have a better chance of avoiding them with Orange Cab or others...

There are plenty of good things to say about Costco. Fruitios. Kirkland Signature Albacore Tuna. Turkey burgers. 3 gallons of Mr. Yoshida's Teriyaki sauce. Eclectic music and DVD choices. Buying the assorted box of muffins but only eating the middle row of chocolate ones.
Completely inconsequential compared to their food court. $1.50 buys you satiation, while $2.75 buys you a one-way to Gluttonville. Nothing beats a polish sausage AND soda for $1.50, and the $1.25 swirl yogurt is probably close to 6 normal frozen dessert servings. Amongst a few others I've discovered, this location's food court is outside so you don't even have to be a member to profit from this phenomenon.

Value Village is always where I head when I'm looking for anything costume related. Or, more precisely, when I'm looking for anything period. It's kind of a long shot when you have something really specific in mind, but you never know what you're going to find.
I prefer the one in Ballard/Crown hill, however there are also large locations in Lake City, Capitol Hill, Redmond, Lynwood, etc. If you can't find what you're looking for specifically, don't fret. They're stock full of enough absurd grandma sweaters and purses to make the trip productive regardless.

The number one thing I miss about home, even more than the sun, is taco trucks. The feeling you get when driving around downtown Pasco is that there's probably 2 taco trucks to every resident which works out to roughly 1 taco bus per family. Your options are endless, but everyone ends up with a favorite and mine is Tacos La Diferencia (although to be fair, this is only after Tacos Mejor packed up and wheeled into the sunset with my heart in tow). Apparently, Tacos La Diferencia has moved into the abandoned building which was housed in their parking lot of choice and have created a real restaurant. I've yet to try it, but the truck version couldn't have served up a better tongue torta. I recommend ordering in Spanish if you can and don't forget your Jarritos!

This restaurant is my strongest lasting memory of San Francisco, which either means it was really good or I like food way to much; the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I'm a grilled cheese, plain turkey sandwich kind of girl and order everything with zero spice. I like most asian foods, but generally stick with simple dishes. This contemporary asian restaurant was so tasty that I let my guard down and loved it all. They hit the mark on everything (especially dumplings and lettuce wraps) and I was out of commission for a good two hours following. Highly recommended!
