It's a good thing I found Old Navy, before I saw the commercials, because those might have really scared me away! But the store itself is great. They always have great items on sale and a great clearance section. But my favorite thing at Old Navy is their jeans. I'm always on the lookout for a pair of nice fitting, decently priced, jeans. I always head to Old Navy to meet these needs and I am never disappointed. Whether I am looking for boot cut, or straight-leg, low waisted or relaxed, Old Navy has a jean styled to fit every body shape. They also have a great range of sizes, just in case you aren't a size 2.
The worst thing about this Old Navy location is the parking! Being in a strip mall, there's always a lot of shoppers about and parking can be a pain. Also, this location doesn't always have enough checkstands open, so there seems to always be a line, but it's worth it for great jeans!

But after a few go arounds you will be an Ebay pro. If you haven't checked out Ebay, go there now! You will be amazed that the kinds of things up for auction, and how many things are out there that you didn't know you needed.

Preparing for our wedding, my now husband and I, wandered all around town tasting cakes to find the perfect candidate. We came across Helen Bernhard Bakery as my husband was a big fan of their doughnuts. I had never tried anything from them before, so I was in for a treat. Yum. They have the best tasting fresh cakes I have ever had. By the time we left the store, we knew we had found the perfect bakery to make our wedding cake.
Even on the day of the wedding, with everything in a blur, I remember seeing the cake and being so impressed with their decorating skills. Lucky for us, it tasted amazing too. I can't count how many compliments we received about the moist, delicious cake. We can't wait until our first anniversary, when we get a fresh top layer of our cake, decorated exactly like our wedding cake. (No eating frozen cake for us!) If you go, you must try their fresh banana cake. Wow!

With only a few booths inside, on a busy day, it can often be hard to get a seat, but when you do, I suggest you order lunch or dinner off their tasty menu. They don't have a huge selection, but their burgers, fries and sandwiches are great. However, don't fill up on your meal, you'd better save room for a fantastic scoop or two of ice cream. With flavors from marionberry and fresh peach to your standard chocolate and vanilla, Tillamook ice cream is some of the best around. Don't miss this great little treasure of a restaurant.

Wanting to break into the RC boat world, my husband and I stopped into Tammie's to check out their selection and prices. Walking into the store was like walking into a new land. Everywhere you looked, there were shelves filled with any sort of hobby kit you could imagine. We wandered through the aisles and eventually came to the RC section. Stretching almost the length of the aisle we found so many RC boats, cars, etc, we were overwhelmed. What surprised us most was the great range of prices. They had boats for people who just wanted a little something to play with, and boats for the serious RC'ers. If you have a hobby and are looking for a new kit or toy, I highly suggest you take a visit to this great shop.

A group of friends and I stopped in at the Blue Monk for a bite before a night out. The food was absolutely incredible. Their chef is amazing and puts together an eclectic selection of dishes. Needless to say, we spent dinner passing around plates and trying each other's dinners. They also have a great selection of wines, beers, and specialty drinks. While we were there, enjoying our leisurely dinner, the jazz started up downstairs. The music filters upstairs, just loud enough to enjoy, but not too loud to interrupt conversation. My friends and I ended up staying quite a bit longer than we expected, just enjoying the ambiance, food and drinks. I can't wait to actually go enjoy a jazz show downstairs.

After a morning spent antiquing in Sellwood, we stopped here for a quick bite to eat. What a great little restaurant. With a nicely decorated dining room looking out on the greens, we were surprised with the many menu selections and the reasonable prices. To our enjoyment, the food was excellent. (I especially have to recommend the Potato salad, yum!) The wait staff was friendly and attentive, refilling drinks, offering suggestions, and removing plates quickly. We sat and talked for quite awhile, but never felt rushed or unwelcome. We've been back a few times since and have never been disappointed. Whether you are there for a game of golf, or just stopping in for a bite to eat, don't miss this great little spot right in the heart of Eastmoreland.

After price shopping beds all over town, my husband and I wandered into Mattress World expecting more of the same..pushy salespeople, high priced beds, and not much selection. Mattress World proved a drastic change. First, we were thrilled when a salesperson asked to point us in the right direction, he directed us, but didn't hover. He did stay close enough to answer our questions and show us different models, but we never felt like we couldn't have a conversation without him hearing. We were able to try out several beds in our price range, and were thrilled with the quality within that price. The selection was incredible and the salesperson was knowledgeable about the differences in each bed. Once we chose a bed, the purchase was quick and easy, and they delivered the very next day. They also do a price meet or beat, so we were encouraged to keep an eye out for the same bed at a lower price. We never found one and we knew we got a great deal. We haven't had a poor night's sleep since.

I first came across the Pine Needle when I was searching all over town for the perfect ribbon for a scrapbooking project. My friend suggested looking here, and it ended up being a terrific suggestion. While The Pine Needle is not a "craft" store in the traditional sense, it is a great store for fabric, threads and ribbons. I believe most of their business is focused on quilting, but their knowledgeable staff is so helpful, they will be happy to help you find exactly what you are looking for. I am hoping to start working on more sewing projects so I have more reasons to visit this cute store.

Wow! When I first walked into CAT, I expected to find your normal humane society type shelter. I was so wrong, this place is amazing. They not only encourage you to interact with the cats, they actually set up rooms for you to go spend time with the animals. My husband and I went in looking to adopt a new kitten. We explained that we were looking for a young female cat at least 6 months old and the staff encouraged us to go upstairs and explore. One of the things I loved the most about this shelter, were the multiple cat playrooms. What a great concept. You actually get to interact with the cats while they are interacting with other cats. It makes selecting a playful, intelligent cat so much fun.
Once you select a cat you think is right for you, the staff moves you into a private room for you to play with the cat alone. This allows you some quiet time to hold and play with the cat and make sure it's a perfect match. We are so thrilled with our cat and are so pleased with the environment this no kill shelter has created for the care and safety of the animals.
