We stopped in before the evening crowd on a Friday and were pleased with the atmosphere and service. The bar sits near the door and the rest of the restaurant spreads out from there. The ceiling is high and the room quite open. My husband thought it felt as if it would host a rather young crowd and possibly that's what you would find after 6:00. But at 4:00 in the afternoon there were several tables with women or couples over 50. Several people had laptops open, so there appears to be wireless connection. The food was good. The menu has lots to offer in several price ranges and portion sizes. I was impressed by the "small" and "large" offers as that allows a more tailored meal for those who don't want a lot. Several TV screens around the bar for those who want to follow sports. Was probably a great place to watch the World Series! Located in the Outdoor Court at Genesee Valley Mall.

As I run my weekend errands, this taco bell is conveniently located between home and Target and the bank. The reason I chose taco bell is because of the nutrition information available online. Doing a little homework in advance makes one less guilty about eating fast food (at least me). I know how many calories in the rice bowl and how many in the 7 layer burrito. I don't often go in but find the drive through effecient. As fast food restaurants go, service is pretty routine. Workers are pleasant though are always busy. I've never had bad service here, but I can't say it is exceptional either.

As odd as that sounds for a restaurant with bottomless fries and huge burgers, I really like their salads and wraps. Because of these items on the menu, I feel I can stop in here for a quick bite to eat, usually at lunch and not blow any healthy eating habits I'm trying to maintain. I have had their milk shake during a weak moment and it was really good. During peak hours it can be very noisy, but is a very family oriented restaurant and a great place to bring kids. The only complaint I have is they switched from Pepsi products to Coke shortly after arriving. I'm not a diet coke fan, but water is always available!

We rented the Blue Heron log cabin through Jackson Mountain Homes a few summers back and it was gorgeous. It slept 6 - king sized bed in the master bedroom with jaccuzi tub, pull out couch in the living room area, and king bed upstairs in the loft area with smaller bathroom. Full kitchen and hot tub outside. The front porch overlooking the mountains had a swing. It was so cool. I just wish we could have spent more time at the cabin as we did so much site seeing that we didn't really get to enjoy the house that much. The price was just right for a rental (fireplace too, but it was summer).
Working with the rental company was pleasant, but please understand that it is the particular cabin that I am recommending which must be rented through Jackson Mountain Homes. I haven't seen or used their other properties. This one (which can be viewed on the web) was perfect.

Many people rave about Coyles' buffet which I will admit is varied and huge. Many, many items to choose from. But I don't find it overly exciting. The restaurant always seems to be busy and noisy. The servers seem harried, trying to do many tasks at one time. The food is sort of summer picnic stuff, nothing fancy by any means. But many people like buffets, the all you can eat concept and that's what Coyles does best.

We have stayed at Lee's for two summers now and are booked again for the summer of '06. He has a number of rooms with kitchens and one or two bedrooms. These do not look at the lake but the building runs parallel to the lake. Also available for rent is a small house with three bedrooms, kitchen and small living area and a larger A frame home. These do sit right on the water with windows facing the water. He provides grills for each unit and plenty of parking. Limited dock space for your own boat or jet ski, but he does have both for rent. A small beach area for swimming and sunning. The location is very convenient to K-Mart and two grocery stores as well as the many restaurants in town. The rooms are clean and comfortable. A family owned business, they try hard to take care of all your needs.

There are 5 or 6 Gs in Michigan. We have eaten at almost all of them - they opened a new one in Saginaw or Bay City and we haven't gotten there yet. But we love Gs. The pizza is thin crust and really good. Antipasto salad is wonderful. But the best are bread sticks either with garlic, or the cinnamon ones with icing. Oh man, we can really overload on carbs at this place. They have a neat punch card that allows you to build up visits till you earn a free pizza. Located in East Tawas, West Branch, and Oscoda too. I'm missing one, I'll add it when I figure it out. The one in East Tawas has an ice cream store located next door so if you skipped the cinnamon bread sticks, ice cream for dessert! The West Branch location is easily accessible via business I-75 so stop in sometime on your way north.
