The last time I went to Evanston (about a week ago) I stopped by this store to check on their special offers. I was impressed with the selection and how nice and helpful they were to me. I have purchased through their Milwaukee Avenue location before, and felt they were super cool people and offered fast, efficient service. Besides, I love those Serta commercials with the little sheep. (Hey, advertising does work!) That's what first brought me to American Mattress. This particular location gets props from me for having a ton of those stuffed sheep in the window. Whatever works to get you in to look around is a good thing.

This is an excellent place for (can you guess?) CREPES! The service is wonderful and the food delicious. The seafood crepes, steak crepes and most of the desserts are top quality, light and will leave you feeling satisified but without that "too stuffed" feeling. Prices are reasonable, the location is near public transportation and there is street parking available. Sometimes you just want something different, and crepes are always a good option to consider.

This is truly a kid's paradise. And it's one of the coolest looking Chuck E's that I have ever seen. The interior is amazing. Even this giant "kid" is impressed. On weekends, they are literally out the door. It's so packed with delighted kids and panic stricken looking parents (I guess all the noise and sight of 10,000 kids all screaming at the same time kind of freaks them out. Go figure :) They have some of the best looking rides, games, toys, and carnival like decor. The pizza is good and the staff does their best to guarantee a fun time for everyone.

We have all seen the commercials. A loud, booming voice, talking a mile a minute, all excited about the deals you can get here. I must say that it's those commercials that first hooked me. I actually look forward to seeing them (how weird)! I LOVE giant lawn balloons. Every season, FIM comes out with the coolest ones. You get the giant turkeys, santas or Easter bunny ones, the Homer Simpson dressed as Dracula ones, the 25 foot spiders and so many more. They also sell a lot of fun decorations, mostly for a good price. And whenever they have too much stock left over, they offer two for one specials and 70% discounts. I get a kick out of seeing their new product lines every season.

I'm a life long rock and roller. Grew up with classic rock and still live it and love it to this day. So when I compliment a station like this, that's saying a lot for them. I actually enjoy taking a break from "Stairway" and "Freebird" once in a while to enjoy something different. It's kind of funny that I found myself getting into this music (Kenny G. and David Sanborn are my favorites) and really starting to appreciate this "smooth jazz" format. My only complaint is the jocks are so generic and robotic -- and either this one woman disc jockey works 24 hours a day, or they hire women who sound exactly the same! It's weird. Overall, good station for a change of pace.

Now where can you go where you can get good old fashioned home cooking, entire meals mind you, for around $8!? Mr. K's is where, my friends. They serve up some great dinners for cheap, and you'll get everything from soup to dessert for one price. I really like their omlettes (the veggie one with hash browns is wonderful) and other breakfast specialties. The servers all seem to know their customers and they have a lot of loyal patrons who have been going here for years.

Regardless, American United is the only cab company programmed in my speed dial. They are fast, reliable and get to know you and even the places where they usually pick you up and/or your typical destination spots. They often follow up with a call to let you know the cab is on the way or if there is a delay. On average, I get my cabs in 15 minutes or less which is great service indeed.

No, this isn't a review of that silly, over the top movie with Reese Witherspoon. It's about a place that looks like my image of what Heaven is all about.
Gorgeous, full of life and love, and a true nature lover's paradise. The grounds are simply stunning and all the enormous amounts of hard work and dedication that they put into this place really pays off. They have over 2 dozen garden areas to enjoy. I feel this place is more for adults to appreciate because I could see kids don't have much to enjoy and would probably get bored pretty fast.
You have to take the tram ride (for the one price you can exit twice and pick up the train again - similiar to the way a transfer card works on public transportation). The tram ride takes you all over the park with great narration. I suggest getting off at the Japanese garden area (under construction right now, but still breathtaking) and at the last tram stop near the bell tower. The beautiful bells play the most lovely and serene music as you stroll about the garden. There's also a great pond area to enjoy. But my favorite has to be the Island Gardens - it literally looks like my mind's eye vision of Heaven. I was just stunned. You will see swans and geese swim by, surrounded by fountains, flowers and bridges.
They also have a nice cafeteria with paninis, pizza, soup and beverages, and they're open for breakast, lunch and an early dinner.
For avid walkers, you cannot beat the amazing amount of land that is before you, all surrounded by birds and little creatures enjoying their natural habitat. This is such a glorious place to visit again and again.
They charge $12 per car and that counts as your parking/admission. The tram ride is $5 for adults. They also have a small admission price for the garden area with model trains (which is so cool). You can save money by signing up to become memberships which will get you free parking/admission for one year along with many other perks.

To say that pizza and pasta make me happy would be a gross understatement. I LOVE 'em! I really like this place too. It's small (about 6 booths and a couple tables, but they do have a larger banquet/dining area if you need it) and they make some great food. I loved their thin crust pizza (black olives and ground beef for me, and it was crispy and tasty), and the mostaccioli was good with a very tasty sauce. The atmosphere is very casual and down to earth and the food is authentic Italian cooking all the way. Oh, and I think they have one of the best jukeboxes around!

It's very unusual in Chicago to find a club where you can get something to eat AND hear some good music in the afternoon, as well as at night. The drinks are kind of high and the food is just pretty good, but they have been around a long time and it's something different to do with friends. The people here are really friendly and I enjoy the continuous rotation of musicians that perform throughout the week. Cool, man, COOL!
