My favorite thing about this store is the awesome looking produce department. As soon as you walk in, you will see a large area filled with tempting looking fruits and veggies, as well as a great salad bar. Right across, you will find the "hot foods" - why slave over a stove in the summertime when you pick up entire meals at Dominick's? They have a nice selection of meats, pasta dishes, chicken and veggies, all cooked and ready to eat.
The store is always clean and nicely stocked. My only complaint is that for years, nearly every time I visit the store, the check out clerks range from bored/indifferent, to crabby/rude. Once in a while I actually get someone that seems to care about waiting on customers, but most of the time, their clerks could use some "happy pills"!!

Where do I begin? WTTW is the station that had the good taste to bring me Monty Python and some of my all time favorite shows like Fawlty Towers and the BBC's The Office (I love that David Brent!) I also really enjoy the variety of concerts and special programming they offer here. I'm proud to be a member of Channel 11 and do my part to help support this wonderful PBS station.

I LOVE this Target. It's my favorite one in the area. First of all, their food department is like shopping at a mini Jewel or something - they have a large selection of even frozen foods, cereals, canned goods and fresh deli and milk products. They also have one of the best selections of women's clothes. Usually I don't care for the clothes at Target, but I just recently spent a bundle on some very cute tops, shorts and a bathing suit to add to my summer wardrobe. The store is clean and well organized.

Whenever any of my rock and roll buddies like Bono, Eric Clapton or Neal Peart come into the city (yeah, we're real close), I send them over to this store. It's a small mom and pop music store that sells guitars, amps, and many other instruments for a great price. They will take good care of all you other rockers out there as far as getting good deals on instruments, but as Robert mentioned, don't expect "mom and pop" to bake you an apple pie and make you feel all loved inside :)

This place is a dump (IMO) but they have some of the best rock bands coming through these doors. It's a legend, mostly for the 500 degree temperatures (not kidding) but especially for the assortment of characters that frequent this club. If you are over the age of 25, you may find it annoying. Check the local Reader for the details on which bands will be performing here. Metro is a nightmare for parking, so I would take the Red Line or buses if you can.

Well, if I'm being totally honest, this place is kind of a dive, and needs a good cleaning and the folks who work here could try a little harder to be nicer. That being said, I know that a lot of people love this fast food joint because they do have a good menu, some decent specials and the hot dogs are very good. The fries are pretty bad and very oily and soggy. Overall, I personally do not care for them, but I do support the fact that they are not "the man" and I feel for 'em because they are stuck right in the heart of huge chains. They deserve a chance to survive, so I suggest you get some dogs to go (no fries!) or maybe buy one of their cute Augie's Doggies t-shirts. The kids will like that.

Well, here's the thing. If "attitude" was worth five stars, they would get ten. I sense some major 'tudes here and that doesn't win me over. The owner doesn't exactly go out of his way to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
However, if you want to hear some good live music, or you feel like jamming during one of their open mics on Sunday, this is the place for you. It's a pretty popular place in Evanston for musicians and those that love them.

The best thing to get here would be the canned or packaged items. Although lately, I have to say that their deli counter (especially the part with the hot foods) is really very good. They also have really good deals at times on cereal and ice cream.

When I worked for a temp agency for extra cash, they sent me here for a few weeks. Well, here's the "inside scoop" - the people who run this company are as wonderful as their products. I got to see their factory first hand and each day got to take home samples or left overs - now that was a good perk! I love their classic sandwich rolls and the ones with onion in them. Always fresh and good :)

It's right off the expressway so it's convenient, although a bit of a hike if you live in the city. Trust me, it's worth it. The have Lord and Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, and a cinema and restaurants.
