When you are in a soup and salad mood, Sweet Tomatoes is the place to go. The salad bar is amazing; every month they have new items on it in addition to all the old stand-bys. The soup bar now features eight different soups daily, and if that's not enough, there's the pasta bar, fruit bar, breads, potatoes and an ice cream station. I always feel like I'm eating healthy when I go here, but with so many options, I have a hard time knowing when to stop!

While it carries the current season's clothing line (just like you'd find at their regular locations), I head straight to the discount racks where I can always pick up cute outfits at a fraction of the retail price. The Children's Place often mails out coupons for an extra 15 percent off so you can save even more.

Ross is one of those stores like TJ Maxx or Marshall's; it carries a wide array of department store merchandise at discount prices. Many of the items make it to Ross when they are past season, discontinued or slightly irregular, and the store is often pretty messy (trying to navigate the narrow aisles that are littered with displays and items pulled off the shelves can be pretty tricky!). However, with a little digging, you can come up with some good finds. Also, beware of the return policy -- if you try to return something after 30 days, even with a receipt the best you can get is a merchandise credit. (I tried on day 31 and they wouldn't cut me any slack.)

This is one of our favorite lunch spots! Chipotle stands out from other burrito chains because it uses the freshest ingredients -- the free-range chicken is chopped right before your eyes; the guacamole is made from scratch several times a day; the salsa is prepared on site in big vats; and even the cheese is freshly grated (no bagged cheese with preservatives here). Yum -- I'm getting hungry just writing about it! The burritos are big, filling and delicious -- just don't try to figure out how many calories are in one of those mammoth things!

Dr. Smart at Children's Medicine has been our primary pediatrician for the past four years. She is very friendly (with a great laugh!) and listens attentively to any issues I raise. She is definitely a by-the-book doctor -- she always up to date on the latest recommendations of the AAP and passes them along. Both my baby and three-year-old respond well to her. In fact, my older daughter insists on tagging along for all of her sister's appointments just so she can see Dr. Smart.
My one complaint is that she books up fast. I called six weeks in advance to schedule a well-visit and she had no openings. I ended up postponing the visit for a couple of weeks just so we could see her and not another doctor at the practice.

Kohl's is one of my favorite department stores! They have a full selection of men's, women's and children's clothing as well as household items and seasonal accessories. At Christmas, they have a lot of items half off and with your Kohl's card, you can often save 15-20 percent more. And, the clearance sales are great! If you can time it right, you can shop their 80 percent off clearance sale during a Kohl's charge card promotion and get some really good deals. I love to shop end of season and get clothing for my children for the next year.
The only thing about Kohl's that drives me crazy is that they are ALWAYS having a sale. Sometimes, it's really hard to tell if the sales price is good or not. And I would never buy anything at Kohl's at full price... just wait a week and then it will be on sale, too!

I had a work breakfast at the Gwinnett Diner earlier this year, and I really enjoyed my meal. I got a omelet with toast and hash browns for under five dollars. Entrees ordered by my co-workers looked just as good, and the portion size was huge (I don't think anyone besides me was able to finish their meal -- oink, oink!).
The service was brisk and pleasant. Only minor complaint was that we had the sun shining right in our faces and had to move tables.

It's hard for me to walk away from a bowl of ice cream unless every last bite is gone, but at Cold Stone Creamery, a little goes a long way! The last time I ate here I had some kind of birthday cake flavored ice cream (I can't remember what prompted me to pick that flavor!) and it was just too much -- too sweet and too rich. I can't imagine it appealing to anyone over the age of five!
I might order another ice cream cone from Cold Stone Creamery the next time I'm in Discover Mills and have a hankerin'... but I will definitely choose a different flavor!

Burlington Coat Factory sells a lot more than just coats -- it carries a full line of men's, women's clothing and shoes, as well as home accessories and baby goods. In fact, they have a special section of the store dedicated to baby stuff called Baby Depot. Prices at Baby Depot are pretty good -- often better than BabiesRUs, but the return policy is lousy (I may not be remembering correctly, but I think they will only give store credit for returns). I bought my nursery furniture here -- it was a name brand (Simmons) and very reasonably priced.
