Where to begin with Haagen-Dazs?! The ice cream is incredible--thick, creamy, and full of flavor. Of course it follows that their shakes are fantastic, as well. But it's the crepes that are quickly becoming my favorite offerings. They're thin and light and filled with fruits or chocolate/nut spreads--perfect if you're in the mood for a rich, sweet snack.
My picks for the best ice cream flavors are: coffee, rum raisin, and Irish creme.

The service is outstanding--I've dined with huge parties and been shocked when the waiter gets everyone's order just right without making a single note. And my drinks always get refilled before they're empty.
If you're going to make one visit to a cuban restaurant in Tampa, La Teresita would be my pick.

The ironic thing about ABC Pizza is that the pizza isn't their best offering. The salads, manicotti, and grinders are the tastiest items on the menu. You can expect good and fast service. The prices are fair and make for an affordable night out for families and groups.
Dining in is very causal and there's never a wait. The meals make for great take-out as well. I recommend trying the Greek salad (with their yummy dressing) and the eggplant grinder.

I love shopping at Z Gallerie. The store is inviting and the employees are helpful. There's a large selection of home furnishings and decor on hand to browse through, and an impressive collection of framed art.
The prices at Z Gallerie range from reasonable to outrageous, but there really is something for everyone. While the stunning leather benches are out of my budget, I find the glasses, figurines, sconces, and art to be a great value. And the display groupings throughout the store offer inspiration even if don't buy all the pieces there.

Lettuce Lake Park has a lot to offer for families and individuals. The boardwalk is a great place to take a leisurely stroll and see some of Florida's wildlife up close. There's plenty of areas available for picnicking, so pack a lunch when you go.
The park is really well kept--clean and natural. It's a pleasant stop for a hike or bike ride. There's always ample parking, even in the peak season.
Given how large the park is, even at its busiest it never seems crowded. If you're looking for an affordable day out, full of activities and fun, I would highly recommend it.

I really do try to walk right by without going in, but inevitably there's an employee in the front window hand-dipping strawberry and pineapple into some rich Godiva chocolate and I lose my will. There are too many goodies here for the chocolate lover.
The best that Godiva has to offer can be found at the counter in their truffle selection. Take your time and pick out a selection of individual flavors that sound good and you won't be disappointed.
While the prices are premium, rest assured that the sweets are, too. And when easter rolls around, don't forget the chocolate bunnies--yum!
I've always received excellent service from the employees, though be warned, they usually tempt me to buy more than I intended ;)

There was a time I would have given high marks to Hillsborough Animal Clinic. In the past I was impressed with affordable services, clean facilities, competent doctors, and pleasant reception staff. They still have wonderful people working at the front desk, but I'm not as happy with the rest of business anymore.
The prices have gone up and the competence has gone down. While I still think they would be a suitable facility to visit for routine shots, I would not recommend them for diagnosing major health problems.
One of my cats had a problem supporting himself on his hind legs. The doctor on staff said that cats almost never get arthritis (not true) and he dismissed the obvious symptoms I informed him about. The x-rays he ordered did not even completely cover the problem area (and were very expensive), so after running up quite a bill, he said nothing was wrong. As the symptoms got worse I saw a vet at a different clinic who took x-rays and was able to show me that the cat clearly had FHD (feline hip dysplasia) and that there was no reason the other vet should have missed such an obvious problem weeks earlier.
The same vet at Hillsborough Animal clinic had also prescribed a medication to one of my pets that was dangerous for prolonged use given that he had an enlarged heart. I was not aware of that until I went to the other clinic.
Despite the problems I encountered, if you just need shots or flea medication, or perhaps even a general well-check, I'm sure this clinic would do fine.

Borders surpasses its big competition by offering a huge selection of media in a very customer-friendly environment. The music section alone is better than most stores that specialize in CDs and the DVD selection is worthy of equal boasts. As for their book offerings, not only do they stock an impressive collection, they have public terminals through the store to make finding what you need quick and easy.
Whenever I've had need to place a special order, they've always come through--even on the hard-to-find titles.
The café is another big draw that brings me back to Border's regularly. The hot chai latte is delicious and the panini sandwiches are worth the trip alone.

A real train-car diner in the heart of Tampa's Seminole Heights. Nicko's, a family owned and operated establishment, has a loyal local following who appreciate both the food and the atmosphere. You can expect to find excellent food and very good prices here.
For breakfast I recommend the Greek omelet--three eggs, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and Greek olives, with a slab of feta right through the middle.
For lunch consider the Nicko burger platter. It's a huge 8oz patty served with thick french fries, slaw and a pickle. Or go with the large Greek salad--it's loaded with olives, feta, tomatoes, peppers, eggs, pickled beets served on lettuce over a heap of potato salad, and the dressing is wonderful. If you like the hairy fish, you can get it with anchovies, too.
For dinner I almost always get the souvlaki plater. It's marinated chicken with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, peppers served on pita, with feta, olives, and fries. Smother it with the delicious tzatziki sauce.
You can also find all your standard diner fare on the menu. The servers are very attentive and always refill my drink just before I need it.

Boca Bargoons has possibly the best selection of high-end home decorating fabrics that I've ever seen. The store is packed with bolts of every pattern and texture you could possibly want. The staff is friendly and helpful, and you're invited to help yourself, too. If you ask at the main desk about swatches, they'll provide you with scissors and allow you to cut your own swatches straight from the bolt. It's nice to be able to browse the large store at your own pace. The swatches can be cut to about the size of a dollar bill, which is generous by most stores' standards, and it provides a great sample to take home a judge against your current decor.
Be forewarned that even at their discounted prices, you'll pay a fair amount for the fabrics--still you won't be disappointed with the deal.
