Who would have thought that paying a restaurant for food that you would have to cook yourself would be as delightful as it was? Shabu shabu --Japanese for 'swish swish'-- at Koji's is Japanese American dining at its finest. What you will order is a plate of thinly sliced pieces of meat, poultry, or seafood and mixed vegetables. When the food arrives raw, you cook it in your own personal hot pot. It is a great way to eat healthy, much like sushi, because you are actually eating less while feeling like you are eating more. The accompanying sauces are tasteful complements to the otherwise unseasoned and unmarinated meat.
Located right in the heart of the Hollywood and Highland center (and also at the Block in Orange), this restaurant is swanky, fun, and a great date location. Overall, I give it to thumbs up and a high five.

Ikea is one of my most favorite places to shop for furniture and other accessories for the home and office. To me, it is the Fry’s Electronics for the world of home fixtures with its reasonable prices, gigantic selection of practical and unique products, lenient return policy, speedy checkout, and frequent sales. It is especially great for college students who can barely afford going to school, let alone furnish their dwellings. If ever you go to Ikea, do not forget to stop by the As-Is department. You will find extraordinary discounts on “damaged” items, most of which have only a few scratches in places you cannot even see.

Okay so this may be cheating because I used to work here, but I have to say that Fry's is probably the best electronics store anyone can go to. Though the service may be rough around the edges, it is the products (and they're prices) that really count. Right? A new sale ad is always everyday of the week except for Tuesdays and Thursdays, if I remember correctly. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday ads are usually good through Tuesday. Wednesday ads are usually good through Thursday. I know that the constant long lines may be a little intimidating at times, but remember that there are usually at least 10-15 registers open. And on the weekends and during big sales, up to SIXTY registers can be open at one time. So the line moves at a relatively fast pace. If you see something you like in the ad, make sure you get it ASAP because the good things usually are gone halfway through the first ad day. Fry's really is a place where you will find products you cannot find elsewhere, especially when you are building your own computer.

This may sound like an unusual combination, but let me tell you: it is the greatest invention in food next to fried mozzarella! Okay now seriously, there is some major serious soul food happening in this place. There are plenty of locations to choose from in the Los Angeles area and even though it may look like a dive or a hole in the wall, don’t be fooled. The waffles are a perfect balance of sweetness and cinnamon and the chicken is crispy, juicy, and paired with the best gravy I have ever tasted. Just don't eat too much of it at one time... I wouldn't want you to have a heart attack!

I am very particular when it comes to my prime rib. And by particular, I mean that nothing beats out the Diamond Jim Brady cut of prime rib from Lawry's. Oh, just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Everything about Lawry's restaurant is classic and tasteful. From the moment your car is taken away by the complementary valets to the moment you walk into the elegant dining room, you know that you have arrived in a place of grand style. If you want to treat your special someone to a dinner he/she will never forget, Lawry's is definitely the place to do it. Make sure you make reservations and don't forget to wear your Sunday best. My boyfriend took me to that restaurant in Beverly Hills for our two and a half year anniversary last year.. and yeah. It was a night I will never forget, especially when the evening was capped off by our waiters bringing in a candle and a cake, singing "Happy Anniversary!" to us. Awesome stuff.
"The Beef Bowl." A neat little trivia about this restaurant: every year, before the Rose Bowl game, Lawry's in Beverly Hills hosts each participating team separately to feast on some yummy meat. This tradition has been going strong over the last 50 years.

Houston’s is my favorite restaurant of all time. I have been to two locations; in Century City and also in San Francisco by Fisherman’s Wharf. This restaurant has a tremendous bar, great atmosphere and upscale -yet surprisingly casual- ambience, and rib eye steaks to die for. It is also a great place to go hunting for celebrities. Although a tad on the pricey side, you will not be sorry with the portions and mouth watering taste of every bite. Ordering the steak is a definite must, but if you must go for something lighter, the roasted chicken is also quite delectable. Oh and the spinach artichoke dip is also a definite must. Trust me; you will not be sorry.
