This place has the duck thing where the chef comes out with the finished duck and cut it up in front of you and then take the rest back to make the rest of the meal with it for you. The dinner here is pretty good.
Now, dimsum on the other hand. That is a bit lacking. I do not understand why so many people are willing to wait in line at this place! Maybe I just do not like waiting, but when I got in after a long wait, the food was definitely not satisfying. You can go see for yourself. One warning though: even if you do not have to wait during dimsum hours, the hostess or waiters or whoever might kind of forget about you once you are seated.

I joined this school in first grade and I met some of my life-long friends here. When I attended, the school was great. The first principal had an assembly about him shaving for the first time ever. There were candy canes and cheerleaders. The school-spirit was not lacking. We had little read laminated cards that students throughout the school would earn if they were caught doing something nice. "I was caught with Hillside pride". The school has changed dramatically since the years I left. More bungalows were added and a parking structure now makes the tiny school, crowded and unpleasing. Although many teachers have left I am almost sure that Ms Hughes is still there.

It should have red banners all over the outside and it right next to the Joy Luck restaurant. This is the hidden dimsum GEM I found a few years back. I have been going there since for their food is incredible. I would not say the dinner menu is all that terrific, but the dimsum is beyond belief. It still stands a bit below some of my favorite places in la, but for Oakland, it is my favorite. Plus all the elderly people frequent this place, and I take that as a sign for GOOD dimsum. Not that older people are all that picky about food, they just have higher standards.

I love cakes. There is nothing more I can say to express my attachment for this delight. As a result, I have developed a very selective criteria for the kinds of cakes I am willing to buy and eat and boast about. The cakes at this bakery are very fluffy and just sweet enough (which is good for my diabetic friends). This place is thumbs up and perfect. You'll see me in there buy cakes January, February, April, May, July, October, December... or whenever I am in the area. Btw, if you like the sweet cakes from Albertsons or Vons or wherever, maybe this bakery's cakes will be a bit too bland for you. Maybe.

They have some great calzones for lunch. I went for dinner and the ambiance was nice in the back. It was very private and dimly lit. I guess I could say that it was a romantic setting. The tiramisu was delectable. They smothered it in ice cream which made it all the better. The pasta was gourmet (either that or I was starving when I got there). The food is decently priced for the amount of food they deliver.

When I went there, there were no other customers. This restaurant is not located at the best part of Shattuck, so maybe that is why nobody goes there. I ordered one-dish to go and I waited an abnormally long time for the food. When I got the food, I must say that it is not the best Chinese food I have ever tried. It is edible, but I likely will not go there again if I have to wait so long for just 'okay' food. They had fortune cookies, so maybe that was supposed to make the wait more bearable.

The Little Pony Horse Four-Legged creature, no? The lunch is very cheap and very filling. It reminds me of a chinese to-go place where the food is laid out right in front of you. Actually, it is more like the DC. There is a pretty decent selection of edible food. It is located right by the Hearst Gym on Bancroft and Bowditch, so practically everybody in southside would have a chance to walk by it.

That's something I have been wondering for the past few years. It tastes too good to be yogurt. I see the Berkeley Farms Milk truck outside of Yogurt Park wee early in the morning delivering 2% reduce fat milk. I think it is 2%. They have a telephone number that you can call and find out what is the flavors of the day. What else? Oh, as for pricing, I have been noticing a steadily increase in the price, which is kind of sad, but! it is still relatively inexpensive for high quality tasting dessert.

I think before Gelateria Naia became Gelateria Naia, it was once Mondo Gelato. Either way, it had gelato. I took my friend there on a cold and windy afternoon, and he said it did not taste like the gelato that he had tried in Italy. Oh well. So maybe it might not be all that authentic, at least it tastes good. And it does. And they serve it in the little spoons. Get lots of free samples and you can start collecting the spoons. If you are too lazy to walk out to this location, try the one on campus. (They have internet at this one.)

Cold Stone is the unforgettable chain of frozen dessert. It offers a respected selection of creative mixes, varying from “Cheesecake Fantasy” to the “Strawberry Blonde”. The great thing about the mixes is that it not only adds great flavor to the creamy ice cream, but it also fills you up. Seriously, if dairy is not satisfying enough, the mounds of fruits and nuts and graham crackers will definitely get the job done. Also! As this Cold Stone is local to Berkeley, you do not get the ice cream in the Styrofoam cup. And I think it tends to melt faster in the paper cup. If you order a “like it”, it likely will spill over as it melts, so ask them to put it in a “love it” cup.
