About Hair is a classic find on Bow Street, near Harvard Square. At About Hair, you will think you are in a London enclave =- a mix of artsy jewelry, rare books, rarer artifactual wall hangings -- old shots, older views of a lost world that stirs nostalgia before you even realize what you are looking at. Framed and faded pictures of the Thames, the Seine, the Rhine -- definitely not the Charles. In the back, there is a quantity and wacky hari salon setting right out of the Crying Game. The owner stakes a claim to that locale for more than a dozen years, with students
and fashion changing but not much different about this place. The same chair furnishing out front, the same stacks of rare books, and the same steady
clientèle -- the faculty, mostly, who can take this net as a hidden perk of Cambridge life. The cuts run $30 which may be Newberry Street prices. On that one, you are on your own.
