We stayed down the strip at the Paris, but ventured up to the Wynn on the advice of a co-worker. Oh, my, gosh. This hotel is absolutely breathtaking. The decor is not gaudy or garish like most of the others. The colors are bright and fresh, and extremely classy. There is a lot of natural light through skylights which helps the ambiance feel open and airy. I wish, wish wish, we could have stayed here, but the room rates are a bit rich for our blood. Next time.

My Mom and I just spent three nights at the Paris Hotel and Casino. We were very happy with our room, which was spacious and had an awesome bathroom. It took me a while to pinpoint exactly what I didn't like about the casino, and then finally I got it: there is NO natural light. It always feels dim and a bit dingy. Once you've spent any time at all in the Bellaggio or Wynn you'll see what I mean. It just has a dark sort of dank feeling about it. So we didn't gamble there, but enjoyed our room very much.

On our last night in Las Vegas my Mom and I ate at Mon Ami Gabi . We had to wait nearly 2 hours for a table, but we gambled while waiting. ;) The hostess was awful, extremely pretentious and rude, but we forgot about her the minute we were seated outside with a perfect view of the Bellaggio fountains.
We each had a steak and fritts, and we were very pleased with our meal and the service.
Next time in Vegas, give this place a shot! You won't be disappointed.

I just attended my first class yesterday, and as I sit here I am so sore! It was a great workout, probably due to the fact that I am a beginner and accidentally attended a level 2 class. Whoops. And even though I am not very flexible at all, the instructor was very patient with me. He must have been wondering, "What is she doing in THIS class?!". I laughed when I came home and looked at the schedule to read about the class I had just taken. I guess it pays to read the fine point, eh?
The studio offers mats, clothing and other yoga accessories. It's expensive, but they offer really nice stuff. I bought a two month membership, so I'll definitely be back (only in a class at my level next time!).

Sick of Starbucks? Me too. I need of a good cup of coffee on Capitol Hill? Here's the place: Cafe Dharwin on 10th Ave E. This place is walking distance from where I live, and I was delighted when it opened about a year ago. Their coffee is incredible and I love that they serve fresh pastries from Louisa's. They also hang a different art instillation every few months, which is fun to look at.

Flame is a place we stumbled into on accident. It's hardly decorated and has a definite diner feel. You order at the counter, have a seat and they call out your number when you're food is ready. But the food! Oh my gosh was the food delicious and inexpensive! We had the pulled pork sandwich (SUPER messy, but so so good) and the roast beef which was also great.
The staff was very friendly and even took a minute to chat with us about how our first experience was. Great location, right on Queen Anne Ave. Definitely stop in for a great sandwich!

After meandering around Ballard this afternoon, my husband and I stopped into Volterra for lunch. We were seated out on the patio which was lovely on a nice summer Seattle day. I am a photographer and pay a lot of attention to light... it was beautiful out there.
The food was decent. I had the Ceasar Salad (asked for chicken and they said they only have whole chickens, yet my husband's dish had minced chicken...), and he had the Chicken Bowtie Pasta. My salad was unremarkable, pretty much like any other salad I've had elsewhere. The bowtie pasta wasn't great either, although I must say that the asparagus was cooked perfectly.
I may come back at some point to give dinner a shot, but definitely not lunch. Our waiter was extremely busy and therefore unattentive.

My brother-in-law loves this place for their oatmeal, so we always tend to go when the family is in town. I'm not in love with Louisa's. I'd like to be. I like the idea of a little neighborhood cafe where you can have lunch or breakfast, but the thing is I'; I'm never impressed with their menu, and the food never tickles me. The service is always good, and I'm never disappointed with that aspect, but to me the food is nothing to write home about.

After a drink at the Can Can, my husband and I drifted over to Lola to experience what I had heard was one great Lemon Drop. We were not disappointed. Tom Douglas is a genius. Part of me secretly wished I'd see him coming out from the kitchen so I could give him a big smack on the cheek for all his efforts.
We had drinks at the bar where the service was unfortunately unimpressive. The server seemed less than thrilled to have us taking up bar space for only appetizers and drinks, but we didn't move. We loved every bite of our appetizer and the drinks were fabulous. We'll be back, and we hope that server won't be working. :)
