I so prefer these types of movie theaters over the big chain types. The Guild 45th, like the Egyptian, Metro and Crest are lovely places to see a movie because they aren't packed with people to see a zillion different films.
We saw Babel at the Guild on Saturday night and it was great. The seats are surprisingly comfortable (not rock hard like some of the other older theaters), and the staff was very friendly. I just love the small feel of one screen movie houses.
If I have a choice, I'll always be seeing movies at the Guild 45th.

The food was cooked well, arrived quickly and the service was nice. I will definitely come back!

I saw Sufjan Stevens at the Paramount last night, and it was my first concert there. What an incredible venue. The interior is gorgeous and I'm not sure there's a bad seat in the house. We were up on the 3rd mezzanine (a.k.a the nosebleeds) and we still had a great view. The sound was great, the perfect place for a musical concert.

I feel really bad writing a less-than-stellar review of this restaurant. We were referred to it by the lady at the local kayak rental shop. We opted out of eating at the Alderbrook restaurant so we could have my 25th birthday dinner there. The roasted garlic clove with olive oil and vinegar was a nice touch for the appetizer, but the bread was gooey and way too soft. It almost seemed as if it wasn't fully baked.
We were there on a Thursday night, and decided to try their Prime Rib special. The meat itself was very very fatty and although reasonably priced, probably not worth it. The au gratin potatoes were very runny and unappealing, and the broccoli was just that, broccoli. Very boring.
I was really disappointed because of all the rave reviews we'd heard from the locals. It made me wish we had stayed in Seattle for my birthday dinner. Dahlia Lounge anyone?

My husband and I just spent two nights at the Alderbrook resort, celebrating my 25th birthday. Our room was beautiful, the grounds were stunning, but there seemed to be something lacking.
Maybe it's just the little touches I hoped to see. Little things, like the fact that housekeeping didn't replace the teabags I had used the previous day, so by the last day there were none left. Or the fact that there was no turn down service, room service ends at 10pm, etc.
The staff was also really unremarkable. Our check-in experience could have been much better. The woman who checked us in was very ho-hum about the whole thing, and we expected a bit more after just sitting in traffic for 3 hours. I noticed also that we could walk by the front desk multiple times without even being acknowledged. I may be spoiled by some other resorts I've stayed at, but I like it when the staff at least says hello.
Now don't get me wrong, we would definitely go back, but I wasn't knocked off my feet like I hoped to be. One of the upsides was the giant hot tub, the steam room and sauna available to all resort guests, and the outdoor fireplace where we enjoyed a bottle of wine one evening.

My Mom and her husband travel pretty frequently and always use Bone-A-Fide. I have been up there to pick the dogs up once or twice and have been really impressed with the amount of care and attention each dog gets. They have gotten to know my Mom's dogs and really build relationships with them. They always know where each dog is, and there is so much room for them to run and play. There's even a "chill yard" for dogs that get a little wound up, or just need to relax. I highly rcommend them!

This is a great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. The booths range from Pike Place Market-esque flowers to Mexican jewelry, antiques and furniture. I was really surprised about the amount of really different, gorgeous furniture. Tons of armoirs, mirrors, even bed frames and dressers.
There are blocks of antiques, everything ranging from used tennis shoes to match box cars and everything in between. There are only 3 food stands, but Fremont has many great restaurants to choose from (try the Red Door, right above the market). Do pick up some Kettle Corn while you're there, as well!

After wandering around the Fremont Sunday Market we stopped into the Red Door for lunch. I had the fish and chips, which were greasy, but delicious. My husband really enjoyed his mushroom burger, and we thought it was a nice touch that you could get a salad or chips instead of fries. I went with the fries, however, because they were hand-cut and delicious!
When in Fremont, definitely give his place a shot.

I cannot believe I paid $100+ to watch this show. It felt like such a waste of time. I kept asking myself, "Why do I want to watch this guy chew up twinkie and spit it out all over the table?". The percussion aspect of the show was great. If they could have stuck to that I might be writing a better review. But alas, they incorporated a lot of really pointless, random parts which left me feeling like I spent money on a really bad show. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I had a mushroom burger which was awesome, and my Mom has a Cesar salad which she really enjoyed. The deco is very "Alice in Wonderland"ish, which we thought was fun. Lots of big clocks, striped wallpaper, etc. But it's not annoyingly decorated, I found it very tasteful,
If you sit out on the deck you have a great view of the waterfall, you can even feel a bit of spray!
