This is not Old Country Buffet. There are not a bunch of trash people and hicks stuffing their already plentiful guts with cheap food just to get their money's worth. Instead, be prepared for a fancy, gourmet experience in which professional servers discreetly line your plate with one of at least a dozen varieties of meat as long as you wish them to do so. Yes this is a lot of meat to consume, but it's very high quality and actually tasty. I am not a big meat eater at all but I would definitely go back here. The salad bar is also up to finer standards although don't get too full on it or you might miss out on all the good meat.

Seriously, this store has a cult following. There's even an American Girl "package" at the Wyndham Hotel. I don't even want to know what it contains but it brings a slew of moms and daughters with their gigantic American Girl shopping bags to the hotel and to the area and they take up WAY too much room. I also think there's an element of spoiling going on when kids are allowed to get that much stuff. These girls walk around with facial expressions that switch back and forth between awe at all the stuff they can get from this store, and smirks of contempt for everyone else. Plus when it comes down to it, these dolls are too nice to really even play with. Brush their hair once and it never looks nice again. What ever happened to Barbie dolls??

This club is a hotspot for tourists, and ghosts. Although, you will probably see a lot more of the former than the latter. It was used as a morgue or hospital after a major boating accident once, or something. But anyway, it's a pretty big club with a not so cheap cover. It is connected to Vision nightclub right next door. Years ago before I was old enough to get in, Excalibur was a really hot spot for Chicagoans but most people living in the area have since moved on to newer places, leaving the tourists to hit it up because they don't know it's not the hottest thing anymore. But don't tell them that or they might move on to where the locals like to play...

This place seems to get very busy for both breakfast and lunch. It is hard to know what line starts and ends where and people can get kind of pushy, as everyone is not only hungry but in a hurry to get to/back to work or class. Still the line moves pretty quickly and the food is pretty filling, and much healthier than fast food. There are enough selections for many different tastes - from fruit, to sandwiches, panini, and pizza, among other things. Be prepared to take your food to go, however, as during these rush times it can be hard to grab a table to eat at before anyone else does.

This truly is the definition of a "neighborhood" bar - it's small, has a few video games, and sports paraphernalia all over. The whole place is not much wider than the bar itself so you really have to squeeze when it gets busy. Most patrons seem to just sit at the bar and fill the place up that way, though there is some seating in the back past the bar. They serve bar food and stay open pretty late, especially for downtown. I'd be surprised if many tourists made it in here, as there are much nicer places to go, but it makes sense to come here if you live in the area to avoid the tourists and see a few familiar faces.

I have come here to have lunch before when it was not too busy, so I was able to really relax and take in the feeling of being somewhere that felt like authentic Ireland. The menu is geared towards that feeling as well, and the food is much better than you would typically expect in a bar, though it's not exactly fine dining. They seem to have regular beer/drink specials which is always nice, and in the summer the entire front of the building is turned into an outdoor restaurant/bistro/bar area that looks like tons of fun!

While you can go here for dinner, I prefer to go just for dessert. The fondue is excellent and there are many ways that you can have it. It is a little expensive but definitely worth it for a nice night out. There are some good wine selections to go with dessert, and if you really want to splurge order an ice wine. In the bar area there is also live music once in a while which can be a nice compliment to dessert, but this area is enclosed so the music does not reach the main seating area for those who want a more traditional or quiet meal.

I was taking an all day class last summer and went here for lunch during the break - it wasn't very busy so I figured I could get in and out on time and be back to class. Well for one thing the food got there before the drinks did - NO excuse for that! And the food wasn't even all that good. The server was totally unavailable and we had to wait forever for a check when all we wanted to do was eat, pay, and get back to class. Then the ATM was broken too which made paying an incompetent server even more difficult. Needless to say I was late for class and won't be coming back here.

The majority of people who come here are tourists, especially with their families. You have to be in the mood to deal with a crowd, kids, strollers, and people who just have absolutely no idea where they're going. If you're feeling adventurous and/or patient, you can have a good time at Navy Pier. There are some good restaurants and bars. In the summer there are fireworks every Wednesday and Saturday nights, and there are several cruise lines that give various cruises along Lake Michigan which are always fun.

You can't be disappointed. Everything here is mediocre. Don't come in here looking for a fine dining experience. The food is average, as is the service. I'd say this is a half step above an Applebees or Chili's. I imagine the only reason to come here would be out of convenience, but there are definitely much nicer and more quality places out there.
