Taco Bell is my favorite fast food join that doesn't deal in burgers. The Taco Bell by Home Depot in Union City is my particular favorite due to the simple fact that it actually has a drive through (unlike the Decoto store), and the order accuracy and quality of their service is on par with the best fast food joints in town. If it's midnight and you're starving for anything but burgers, Taco Bell on Industrial is my pick.

Zachary's Pizza is simply to die for. There are currently two locations in the bay area, and both are famous for serving the best stuffed Chicago style pizza this side of the west coast. Unlike most pizza places that serve the same old thin pies with their own little twists like stuff crust or odd toppings, the thing that makes Zachary's pizza so special is the style of the entire pizza itself. Their pizzas are literally an inch tall. They're stuffed deep with fresh cheese, toppings, and sauces that actually sit on the top of the pizza.
Because of the spectacular quality and high demand of their pies, Zachary's is always crowded (expect 30 minute waits for seating and phone lines that are always busy), and is more expensive than your average pizza parlor by $5-$10 per large pizza (however, a large from Zachary's actually feeds 3-4 full grown adults till they can no longer move).
If you haven't yet, give Zachary's a try. They have a store in Berkeley and in Oakland.

Giant Burger is another Union City gem tucked away on Alvarado Niles Rd. The joint is a mom and pop owned place run by a nice Korean/Chinese family. Their burgers are amazing, prepared fresh right in front of you when you order them (eat your heart out Jack in the Box).
Burgers aside, they have a large menu that consists of pretty much anything you'd expect to find at a burger/sandwich place. Things like terriyaki chicken and tuna fush sandwiches round out their wide variety of menu items. They also have your basic soda fountain and also serve some pretty good shakes and malts.
The only downside to Giant Burger is it's higher than average prices. But considering all of their food is prepared fresh, their portions are larger than fast food places, and the proceeds go to a mom and pop place, the extra cost is very easily justified.
Give Giant Burger a try whenever you're cruising through Union City and you're dying for a fresh burger. You won't be disappointed.

Very yummy pasta... enough said really.
Pasta Pomodoro offered dozens of different Italian dishes at pretty reasonable prices. I've been to fancy upscale resaurants in San Francisco where they charge you $30 for a slab of meat with sauce, beans, and potatoes. At PP, you can get a nice plate of pasta and a soda in the $10-$15 range, be full, and have a nice time with friends eating something that isn't burgers from In-N-Out (which, by the way, isn't bad, just tiring and repetitive).
And if you still need to justify the 15 clams it costs for a meal, you can always take advtange of the free bread they serve, and see how many orders of free bread it takes until they consider throwing you out.
Pros: Delicious food, fair prices.
Cons: Easier to pronounce double-double than fettucini alfredo

Shogun is my favorite sushi joint in Newark. I'm a broke college student with an appreciation of the finer things in life, such as raw fish, so whenever I can find a nice sushi place that sells really stuffing bento boxes in the $7 range, I get excited.
A few friends introduced me to the place years ago, and it has been one of my favorite hang outs since. The place is located in the Newark Safeway shopping center right of Decoto Rd. / 92. Their dining area is very small with only about half a dozen small tables available, but I really feel it gives the place a really nice cozy feel. I believe the place is mom and pop owned, and the staff there is always friendly and accomodating.
Pros: Awesome prices, cozy environment, wide menu selection
Cons: It's not closer to my house :)

Yerba Buena is my all time favorite ice rink. Located right next to the Sony Metreon, it provides a great atmosphere to hang out with friends at a low cost.
Skating usually runs about $10 (ice skate rental included), and the rink is regularly open to the public at least twice daily. The rink itself is well kept, and the ice is cleaned often so that you won't risk skating in a slipperly lake of melted ice.
The rink also features a few arcade games, but is primarily a place for enthusiasts and beginners to get on the ice and strut their stuff. Always a fun place to visit and skate at.

Car dealerships are pretty much all the same, and the type of deal you get on a new or used car is dependent upon the sales people you encounter there. I was able to help my auntie purchase a brand new 2005 Honda CRV from Fremont Honda for thousands below MSRP. The management is more than willing to negotiate on pricing, but if you're firm in your desire to purchase a vehicle at a good price, they're more than willing to sell you one.

I've worked for this company personally for a few weeks, and it was the worst possible work experience of my life. The mortgage company itself is highly profitable and funds several loans a month. However, their management team is entirely money motivated, and has no real concern with customer satisfaction o even helping and improving the financial situation of their clients.
The branch manager of the place was put under investigation by the FBI several months ago, and overall, dealing this company is not a pleasant experience. This brokerage deals in selling loans that don't fit the needs of their customers, and also tends to overcharge its clients in junk fees. Avoid them at all costs. Their are literally thousands of mortgage companies out there. Any one of them is better than this place.
