Argonaut Liquors supplied the beverages for our wedding last summer, and we were really pleased. The prices were very competitive, and we had specific "party consultant" who helped us figure out what we needed. They co-ordinated with our caterer to get the drinks delivered to the site. After the event they even let us return any unopened (resalable) cases for a full refund. This saved us several hundred dollars, and helped us to feel comfortable over-estimating what people would drink. The neighborhood is a little iffy and occasionally you may get approached in the parking lot by someone asking for money etc. You can minimize that by going during the daytime. Argonaut is really one of the best liquor stores in Denver.

This restaurant is very near to a beach house where we stay in Nag's Head. Every time we go there, my relatives make comments about how "local" it is. This always amuses me because the place is so obviously frequented by tourists and "summer people" just like us.
They have the typical seafood offerings, and a decent platter combination. Not much in the way of health food, but I wouldn't really expect it in this type of place anyway. The decor is mostly nautical, including a scary-looking portrait of a swordfish. Our server was friendly and chatty (perhaps the only "local" in the place!) and we didn't have to wait too long.

Recently I was trying to get some multi-page double-sided programs printed from a pdf document that I'd burned onto a disc. A pretty basic job, right? So I figured I could get it done cheaply at Office Max, Office Depot, or one of those types of places. WRONG!! I spent basically an entire day running from one store to another and dealing with dysfunctional equipment, delays, mistakes, staff problems and just plain old incompetence. Just when I was about ready to rip my hair out in frustration, my salvation arrived. I walked into Anaconda Printing's downtown location and immediately I felt calmer and more hopeful. The intelligent staff members understood exactly what I wanted, and they had exactly the color and weight of paper that I wanted it printed on. The job was done accurately, on time, and for a very reasonable price. Very highly recommended. Thank you Anaconda!

My husband and I have each bought a couple pairs of shoes here, and they have a pretty good selection. I like their new location in the Marketplace Mall better than the old stand-alone location, mainly because it is fun to watch people climb the fake rock climbing wall. They also carry tents, fishing gear, golf clubs, and your usual array of sports equipment and exercise clothing. I've had trouble getting a dressing room to try stuff on once or twice, but not enough for it to be a big deal. Don't expect a lot of help from the staff: they're pleasant, but it is tough to find someone to ask a question sometimes. In general it is exactly what you would expect from a sporting good store.

Next time you are looking for something different, check out the Dutch Market on Park Ave. This place is an absolute must if you are a fan of TRUE licorice (not the Twizzlers kind). They approximately thirty varieties of salty, sweet and salty/sweet licorice imported from the Netherlands. Each type is labelled with its Dutch name and a brief description. (Some are extremely stong, and not for the novice!) The Dutch market also carries a nice selection of imported candies, cheeses and Dutch specialties, Delft pottery and more. In the back there is a cute little eating area where you can enjoy breakfast or lunch.

I really miss Fairway. We used to do a lot of our grocery shopping there when we lived in Manhattan. My favorite is their olive bar - especially the baby mushrooms. Of course during "peak hours" the store is nearly impossible to navigate, but Manhattanites are quite used to that. The fish and meats are always super fresh, and the produce section is great. They also have a great selection of specialty foods and a health and bulk section upstairs. This place is truly an upper west side institution. Check out the photos on the wall as you go though the checkout. Just don't expect a lot of sales here!

This is a unique and cozy Vietnamese restaurant on Monroe Avenue. They are known best for their Pho soup, a big brothy bowl with thinly sliced beef and lots of noodles. I found the soup alone very filling; it is really enough for a meal by itself. The decor is artsy and includes some unique metalwork on the outside and a big fish tank inside. It reminds me of some places in New York City for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on. Our server was perky to the point of being amusing, but still attentive and friendly. Its a little more expensive than your typical "ethnic" restaurant in Rochester, but it is a nice place for a romantic evening.

I take my old car to the Main St. Midas location because they have always done a good job for me. They are always really nice, and they don't give you a hard time if it has been a little too long since your last oil change. The mechanics are willing to take the time to really explain what needs to be done and why. Somehow that makes it seem a little less painful when you have to fork over hundreds of dollars to keep your wheels running. The location is convenient, and I think they are honest.

Our wedding was in the new "Welcome Garden" tent at the Hudson Gardens last summer. We were very pleased with the facilities and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They were able to recommend other vendors, such as our caterer to us as well. The tent was the perfect size for our event, and it provided much-needed protection for our guests when a sudden rainstorm arrived. The only thing that made me nervous was that the landscape plantings around our site were not in place until the day of the event, but since it was a newly built tent we could sort of understand that. They also have an "Inn" and another outdoor tent. The Inn was a little too rustic looking, and the other tent didn't have air conditioning, so the choice was easy. We were very pleased that we were able to save on the site fee by getting married on a weeknight instead of a weekend. There are a lot of nice areas nearby for photos too.
