S and G's is your classic diner food, but it has one distinction that sets it apart from Clarke's and Golden Nuggets... their food has flavor and is delicious. Largely comfort food and in the same price range as Clarke's, this diner has great service and a generally placid clientele.
Their menu is immense, but I find everyone ends up picking a few favorites and even though they peruse the menu forever, the dishes they sampled before are just too good to pass up (and once you try something new, that becomes too good to pass up).
Friendly service, good food, decent price. What else is there?

Taboo, on Belmont, has quite the extensive collection. Beyond toys, their main product is sexual outfits. Their selection is quite vast, and the service exceptional, but comparitively, their prices are a bit higher than most other stores I've been in.
So far as toys go, they have a selection of both male and female focused toys, as well as a fair-sized BDSM section. Their staff is full of recommendations and not awkward or unfriendly (and not too friendly either). However, the prices don't match, so I still head elsewhere.

Early To Bed, up on Sheridan and Foster, a block off the Berwyn red line, is simply amazing. Not only do they carry everything under the sun, but their staff is informed and stockful of suggestions. Their prices are fair and on par with most other places.
But what is truly amazing is the atmosphere. The store sees itself as women-oriented, boy-friendly, and open to all genders and sexual orientation... and they make good on these words. In the store, there are tables and displays of their products out of the packaging that you can feel and turn on, to judge for yourself. The vulgar and flashy packaging most toys are sold in is kept out of sight, to promote a positive and empowering experience. Though its target audience is women, I've never felt out of place there or unwelcome as a guy.
The staff is phenomenal, willing to discuss products with comfort and knowledge. I've also observed them being very sensitive and astute to customer's varying levels of comfort with the topic.
I recommend Early To Bed to anyone and everyone. This store gets it right.

Pizza Rustica, a block away from the Sheridan Red Line, has it all. The pizza here is thin crust, almost crack like, but so buttery and with so many herbs that it's in a class of its own. It's crisp and delicious. The ingredients are top of the line, numerous to pick from. I've yet to sample their pastas, but if they're half as good their pizza, they're top-rate.
The restaurant itself is very casual, but elegant. The staff is friendly and attentive. Their prices are low and affordable, even to the broke college student. The service is some of the fastest I've seen, your pizza can be available to pick up usually in 10 minutes. For lunch, I've never felt rushed or that it's been disapproved to linger over some coffee and tiramisu with my companion. Relaxed, affordable, great service, and brilliant, brilliant food.

Standard India Restaurant is exactly that. The food here is not extraordinary or unique, but neither is it abysmal and revolting. It's very mediocre fare at a reasonable price (so far as Indian is concerned.) The restaurant has pretty good service, but the environment is pretty low-rent. What they do have going for themselves is that they have a dinner buffet, which is very hard to come by. However, the cuisine is run of the mill and I question how long everything sits out under the heat lamps (it somesitmes looks to be baknig all day). Still, if you're not picky, it's conveniently located right next to the Belmont El and finding a dinner buffet is no easy task.

I can't comment on their cigar collection, but for pipe smokers, Blue Havanna isn't worth the trip. Besides having a microscopic pipe collection, they carry three brands of pipe tobacco on a good day and little variety within those brands. They have a few accessories that are usually priced down (I picked up a small rack fairly cheaply here), but if you're looking for quality tobacco or to pick up a new pipe or two, go somewhere else.
On the plus side, the service is very friendly and chatty and the few pipes they do have are quality. However, if you're like me, you like to select your new pipe from a wide variety and there's just too few here to feel like you got the best pipe for your money. As far as atmosphere, this is neon, low-rent, cigar shop. Like I said, I can't comment on their cigar selection, being a pipe man, but I felt like I wasted my time going there.

The Pick Me Up is a artsy, popular cafe on Clark, just a few blocks south of Wrigley Field. If you're a vegetarian or vegan, there are few places in the city that cater to your style more than the Pick Me Up, with not only multiple menu options, but also baked goods and sweets that are vegan-friendly.
The Pick Me Up is funky and artsy, definitely meant for the younger demographic, but their food is good. However, it gets a lot of grumbling for how pricy their meals are and that criticism is deserved. An average tab will run you about ten or eleven bucks, before tip. Their portions vary in generousity. Some servings are huge, but others leave room for improvement.
The food is somewhat trendy, but still good. I particularly recommend thier Garlicious Breast Sandwich, BBQ Chicken Pizzadilla, and their snickers cheesecake, but I've never seen anyone disapointed with their meal.
However, the service is friendly, the hours nocturnal, the food a bit trendy, but good, and if you're into a younger, hipper atmosphere, it's worth the few extra bucks.

Truly one of the best dining experiences I've had in Chicago. India House is the no-brainer for Indian lunch buffets. Located downtown, about a block west of the Grand Red Line, it's convenient and worth the trip downtown.
The buffet is usually 10.95, but is 11.95 on Sundays. It's got everything you could want and then more. Unlike most buffets, you don't get the feeling that the food has been sitting under heat lamps for hours before you showed up. Fresh food is put out frequently. The waitstaff is attentive and courteous. If you're a drinker of Indian beer, you'll be pleased with the selection here.
The restaurant itself if very nice with a elegant, quiet, and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a good lunch with an old friend or relative. Make sure to call ahead on Sundays, because it is a popular lunch stop, but don't miss this place.

Delicious, a trendy eatery in River North, picked an accurate name. Their sandwiches, hot and cold, boast a wide variety with well-matched ingredients. Their pizza is nothing special, but certainly nothing to sneer at if you're in the mood for a slice. They boast an expansive salad bar which draws a crowd every day because of its gourmet ingredients. Additionally, they have a lunch special everyday, usually a noodle dish. (Stop in on Wednesdays for the best chicken alfredo of your life!)
Though a bit pricy, you get what you paid for. Portions are large and the food is well, delicious. The atmosphere is trendy and fits River North. The service is quick, but sometimes lags, not due to poor help, but how crowded this place can get at lunch. It's definitely a favorite of the 9 to 5ers.

I used to work about a block from Brett's and had on problem eating there upwards of three times a week. Though their menu is mostly sandwich, burgers, and soups, what they do have is completely stellar. Everything is made fresh when you order, to your exact specifications. The service is friendly and quick (and remembers your orders if you're a regular). Though it's "diner" food, it's very classy and definitely suited for downtown.
Additionally, they have a decent coffee selection and their breakfast is every bit as quick and delicious as their lunch (particularly their seasoned hash browns).
The atmosphere is low-key and comfortable, sort of artsy, but not over the top. My only complaint is there isn't a lot of seating, but as far as food and service goes, they're out of this world.
