As I was paging through Lucky or Vanity Fair or magazine recently, I saw a blurb on a new liquid eyeliner from Styli-Style. I had never heard of the brand and, as a fan of Liz Taylor as Cleopatra eyes, popped onto their website to order some.
Instead of ordering directly from the manufacturer, I was redirected to CosmeticMall.com and was offered a trial kit of some of Styli-Style's products (including two pencil sharpeners, eyeliner,, lipstick and makeup remover). I ordered my liquid liner and then poked around the site. Although I only ordered Styli-Style (trying to keep on my budget!), the site also offers items from Serendipity3, Bumble & Bumble, Sebastian, Lancome, La Prairie, Chanel, Bobbi Brown and Tweezerman.
If you know what you want or don't need to try a product in person, this is a great site to visit.

I recently ate at Norma's for the first time despite its close proximity to work. I enjoyed a three course lunch with a pot of French Press coffee. I didn't love the price of the bill, but I was very satisfied with the food and took home not one buy two doggie bags.
My meal:
The French Press (thankfully!) stayed hot through the entire meal. I liked having my own pot at my table.
I started with the James Beard award winning potato pancakes (two). I was not wowed. I did enjoy the small apple smothered in I think a carrot puree and the cranberry apple sauce that accompanied the cakes. The puree and the sauce are quite sweet.
Next was the Skirt Steak Fajita a la Gringo with guacamole (fabulous!), sour cream, pico de gallo & black beans. You wrap your own in fantastic hot tortillas. Delicious and I would definitely order this again.
Finally came the Chocolate Decadence French Toast (with strawberries, pistachios a whole lot of Valrhona chocolate). Decadent is an understatement. 1 and 1/2 pieces of toast and I had dessert for three meals. I loved it but would NEVER order it as anything other than a shared dessert.
The service:
The restaurant was about 1/2 full when I was seated and about 2/3 full when I left. The full staff was on, yet I had difficulty placing my order, getting a refill on water and getting a bill. Don't expect genuine smiles from the servers - I tried and got not one.

The Morgan Library & Museum was the home of Pierpont Morgan until his death in 1913. His library (a big favorite of his) was built from 1902-1906.
The Library & Museum now hold one of the world's greatest collections of artistic, literary, musical, and historical works. Depending on what is on display from the vast collection, you may see original works by Mozart and Beethoven, drawings by Rembrandt and Rubens, medieval and Renaissance works, one of three Gutenberg Bibles, literary manuscripts of Dickens and Twain, and five-thousand-year-old Near Eastern carvings. There are several computer stations in the center of the museum that allow visitors to virtually tour the collection.
On my recent visit, I was thrilled by the Saul Steinberg exhibit (entitled ILLUMINATIONS). Mr. Steinberg was a longetime illustrator at The New Yorker - although I knew this, I was shocked by how many of his drawings I was familiar with from other sources.
$12 admission.

I used to come to this Hooters with my two girlfriends to watch Sunday NFL football. The beer is cheap, the food used to be better (now it really does give me a stomachache if I eat an order of wings) and ALL the games are on. That is still a plus. The line for the ladies room is NEVER long and the Hooters girls are not as skimpily clad as their calendar-shot cohorts. In fact, the average waitress here is just that - average.
Come here for the games, not the atmosphere. You can always count on seeing your favorite team, even if the Jets & Giants own local telecasts here!

I have enjoyed the food at China Grill several times, but my most recent trip left me a bit sore. You see, I came in between the lunch and dinner sittings and my only option was to sit at a cabaret table or the bar. I chose the cabaret table thinking that it would be nice to spread out my bag and coat. Bad choice. The bar stool was extremely uncomfortable and I had no place to put my feet. I had to get up and stand to wait for my check because I couldn't take it any longer.
Good food choices: Peking Duck Salad & Drunken Chicken.
Portions are very large, so you might want to split an entree with a friend...actually, you should split an entree or you will be bringing home a carton of food.
The price is high, but you will enjoy the food here. Love the fried onions!

I picked Dr. DeVito primarily because of his location. I was lucky to find that he is a great dentist. In the past 6 months, I have had some fairly extensive work done replacing old fillings (painful, but necessary). Dr. DeVito has been great about walking me through the process, explaining what he was doing and why he did it. I have never felt awkward asking a question, whether it be about cost or method.
He is conveniently located on the NE corner at 6th Avenue and 57th Street for anyone who lives or works in midtown.

Many reviews I have read of Martini House (on other websites) have negative reviews about service or attitude. I will state right here that I have never had bad service in the eight or ten times I have eaten at Martini House (in the bar or the main dining room at both lunch and dinner). I have always been pleased.
That said, the food is fantastic. It is a bit overpriced, but so is just about all of Napa Valley. I adore the butternut squash soup, the venison, the Sonoma duck breast and the potato rosti (I am thrilled to see it back on the menu!). Todd Humphries is a fabulous chef as well as an accommodating one (says the girl who doesn't like mushrooms but loves all of the menu items that includes them) and is very kind to the patrons sitting at the kitchen.
Trust the sommeliers...they are good ones ;)

If I move to Belgium, I will become incredibly fat. Then again, if I stay in New York and continue to eat at Markt, the same thing may occur. I cannot resist the steak frites with a lovely little green side salad, dressed to perfection, let alone the frites themselves. Pair this with a Chimay Rouge or Blanc and I am a goner in food and beverage heaven.
The wooden decor may just look like another bar, but it is surprisingly comfortable. If you come in warm weather, all of the window/doors will be open and for about 5 seconds you may feel like you are dining in Europe.

This is a great spot for a dinner party. My favorite foods here include the cornish hen stuffed with pine nuts and spices (it comes with wild rice and a zucchini cake), hummus, sigara boregi and cacik. The baklava looked great, but I was far too full to indulge.
It is dark, but comfortable -- lots of candlelight. Our large party was seated in the back, which was great for conversation but a negative because the bathroom door was right at our backs.

We headed down to the city from Napa Valley right after Thanksgiving and met 3 friends for dinner at Chapeau! (the exclamation point is in the name...not my expression).
If you are not familiar with SF, mapquest the location first as it won't be on your rental car agency map (it was not on ours). Plan to leave a little time to park in this residential, but crowded area.
The meal was delicious from "soup to nuts" and foie gras was in many dishes I started with the duck salad...only to be disappointed that I didn't order the warm brie on potato. Don't get me wrong, I loved the duck, but I really wanted my friend's brie. Big winners were filet mignon, pork and warm chocolate cakes to end the evening.
Meals can be ordered in 3 or 4 courses or a la carte if you have a dieter with you (not recommended as you will want to taste many things on the menu!).
