Circle in the Square is a dynamite space to see a show. It has a thrust stage that causes a decently large space to feel incredibly intimate. Both plays and musicals have found a home at Circle. It shares a car port with the Gershwin next door - the two spaces could not be more different from one another!
Some recent shows here: FROZEN, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, METAMORPHOSES, and currently, THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE.

For what it is worth, it is a comfortable space - there are even wide staircases to go up to the balcony. It is one of the few performance spaces between 6th Avenue & 7th Avenue (this one is on the south side of 48th Street). One flaw - you might fight folks to enter the venue as there is no space inside to wait.

There is a long walk from the subway to the Jane Street Theatre, but take comfort in the fact that you are walking on tree lined streets of the very expensive West Village. The theatre has been host to some hot Off-Broadway shows such as HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH, tick TICK BOOM and DEBBIE DOES DALLAS.
The venue itself is no great beauty - there is no lobby to speak of and the theatre looks a little more like a bar with too many lights on. But I will not kick it to the curb - the acoustics are decent and because it is so small, your view will probably be great no matter where you sit.
Just leave yourself ample time to get to the theatre from the bus or subway and head west.

Eugene O'Neill was born in a Times Square hotel. After writing some of the best plays in American history, it seems fitting that he is immortalized on the marquee on West 49th Street (between Eighth Avenue and Broadway). It has been named for O'Neill since 1959. Check out the mosaic of his signature right above the entry doors.
Some of the greatest playwrights have had shows here - Arthur Miller, Neil Simon, Lillian Hellman, Noel Coward, Tennessee Williams. Some recent shows here have been THE FULL MONTY, CAROLINE OR CHANGE, NINE and currently, SWEENEY TODD.

Expect to see a large scale musical here. The space was built for spectacle. The seats are comfortable, there are great sight lines & acoustics, and there is just so much space...in fact, it is the largest Broadway house (unless you count City Center & the New York State Theatre).
The Gershwin has been home to some of the big guys (WICKED, MAME, ANNIE, MY FAIR LADY, OKLAHOMA), but it is not just a theater venue. It is also home to the Theatre Hall of Fame - look for your favorites among the names on the wall of the southern rotunda.

After a theater on west 46th Street named for her was demolished for a hotel, Helen Hayes got another chance at being the biggest name on the marquee when the Little Theatre was renamed in her honor in 1983.
The Helen Hayes is a popular venue for solo shows & smaller plays (MISS MARGARITA'S WAY, SHAKESPEARE FOR MY FATHER, TORCH SONG TRILOGY). It is located just east of Eighth Avenue on 44th Street.

Don't get caught in Times Square traffic - this theater is on 41st Street 7th & 8th Avenues. I think that is the southernmost Broadway showhouse. You won't miss the neon "Hotel" sign reading "RENT". Come for the $20 lottery for the first 2 rows of tickets each night.

I have been to a lot of FedEx stores in the city for both work and personal reasons. This outpost gave me one of my best experiences. The supplies were fully stocked. There was plenty of room for me to put together my package. A sufficient number of staff members were on duty AND they were extremely kind to all of the customers (even one who needed a little extra help). My package not only arrived on time - it was a day early!
This location accepts packages until 9pm.
Kudos to you folks in Soho. I will remember that you have great service!
