Every girl needs to freshen up her underwear drawer at least once a year. What better way to do it than with some comfortable and affordable panties?
The Jockey Store at Napa Premium Outlets is conveniently located right off of Route 29 (so it doesn't matter if you are coming down valley or up from the sprawl of San Francisco). Cotton and silk panties range from about $3-$8 in a variety of shapes, cuts and sizes (there is a good plus-sized section). You can also sign up for the Jockey Club which gives you a gift card after $200 of purchases.
Men's undershirts, boxers and briefs are also available at this location.

I stumbled upon Pomegranate Seeds wine bags at a recent holiday bazaar. I have found these bags to be great for "wrapping" a hostess gift bottle of wine or merely dressing up my own bottles for the holidays.
The bags come in a variety of colors, patterns and some are embroidered (lobsters, dogs, etc.). The bags should not be limited to wine...cookies, candles, marinades, etc. could be stored/given in the bags. Each bag comes with a coordinating ribbon for tying.
I bought four bags at the bazaar and ordered more by contacting the gals at Pomegranate Seeds online!

As I was paging through Lucky or Vanity Fair or magazine recently, I saw a blurb on a new liquid eyeliner from Styli-Style. I had never heard of the brand and, as a fan of Liz Taylor as Cleopatra eyes, popped onto their website to order some.
Instead of ordering directly from the manufacturer, I was redirected to CosmeticMall.com and was offered a trial kit of some of Styli-Style's products (including two pencil sharpeners, eyeliner,, lipstick and makeup remover). I ordered my liquid liner and then poked around the site. Although I only ordered Styli-Style (trying to keep on my budget!), the site also offers items from Serendipity3, Bumble & Bumble, Sebastian, Lancome, La Prairie, Chanel, Bobbi Brown and Tweezerman.
If you know what you want or don't need to try a product in person, this is a great site to visit.

THE FAMILY JEWELS should not be mistaken for a jewelry store, but rather a real "gem" in the world of vintage stores. The spot on West 23rd Street has both clothing and accessories (including a small amount of hats) from the entire 20th century. Please note that there are not a huge amount of items from the 10s or 20s and that many of the beautiful items behind the register (including some fabulous top hats) are not for sale. You will have to spend some time digging through the racks if you are looking for something from a particular era as they are arranged by type and color instead of decade. This is a wonderful shop to explore - just check your bag at the front door and dig in.

As an actor, I often have to find a specific type of make-up or a color that I wouldn't typically wear but is necessary for the show. It is difficult to get this done at a department store (where I usually buy my make-up) because employees work at specific counters and are supposed to sell their brand only. For me, Sephora is a lifesaver.
Today, I had to find red lipstick (I NEVER wear red lipstick) that would 1) look good and 2) look like it was from the 1930s. I walked into Sephora in Times Square and foolishly just started to try on reds. My face was a mess. I was losing patience. I needed help. A very friendly Sephora worker not only came to my aid, but she found me a very affordable brand!
Sephora is great because a customer is able to mix and match brands. I like to wander the aisles, hoping to find a new product without having the pressure of having a salesperson pull it out of a counter ready for a big sale. Thumbs up, Sephora!

Dylan's is completely overpriced. Yet I still find myself walking through here. Is it because of the fun windows or the candy filled staircase? I think it has a lot to do with the Pez wall downstairs and the candy themed clothing.
If I want to take a trip down memory lane to the penny candy stores of my childhood, I can (sort of) do it at Dylan's. I just have to save A LOT of pennies before purchasing anything.
There is a party room on the lower level. Don't know if anyone on here has used it.
Fun to window shop!

I went to Beacon's Closet for the first time over the weekend to look for some costumes. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for (how many lavender pantsuits are there out there?), but I was amazed at not only the large selection of goods but the ORGANIZATION. I was SO PLEASANT to walk through a thrift/consignment store and be able to approach the search by color without being overwhelmed by overstocked racks and shelves.
The items we did find were cheap! What a relief that consignment doesn't mean expensive.
I can't wait to go back and find some good shoes (there were even some in my size, which is rare for a 10.5)
