The crowd here is always high-energy, the sound is good and the bands really seem to enjoy playing on this stage.
I've seen some really incredible shows here, my favorite probably being Jets to Brazil. I've also been to friends' performances here, which is always a great experience for them and me.
I also think Metro tries to cater to all variances of the local music scene, so whatever your preference, you will find a band you like playing here.

The staff take there time making sure the order is right and, while they don't rush, it doesn't feel like they are being slow. They also like to play music that ranges from funky to bizarre to pop to I-wish-I-had-this-CD.
The sandwiches are also very good and a whole menu board is given to the vegetarian options. I will say, however, that the goldish paint on red background makes it difficult to read at times.
Bean & Bagels does close fairly early (and isn't open too early, either), so I prefer to go for a weekend breakfast or lunch. They also have sidewalk seating in warm months, but it is practically under the Brown line tracks.

The wrapping paper here is very unique, as are many of the cards. I found very high quality Christmas cards here; they were typically $10-14 per packs of 8 or more. A little bit pricey, but at least you won't receive the same card you sent out.
I often browse through Hazel (about once every 2-3 weeks), but go specifically for incense. The selection is small, but the scents are varied and often lighter, less cloying than incense I've purchased before.

Textbooks (probably for the local college students) are also available.

I love Uncle Dan's. I always seem to find something, even if I'm not looking for anything. The sales staff are amazing; if they don't have an answer, they know the person in the store who does.
They offer a good selection of hiking packs, day packs, shoes, apparel, camping gear and much more. Prices are what they are at similar places, but the sale prices can be very good.

This place is ridiculously expensive and seems to pander to the "weekend warriors" in Lincoln Park. The clothes and sales staff are nice, but then I expect no less when the t-shirts are 80 bucks. I only go when I need something very specific, or there is a sale.
Quality does not have to equal expensive. Go to Uncle Dan's on Lincoln; selection can be limited but prices are definitely decent and the staff there really know there stuff when it comes to outdoor fitness/recreation.

Both my boyfriend and I used First Associates when we were unemployed. Although I did not, he was able to find a job with them. However, after working with First Associates on my resume and having them rate my computer skills, I definitely had a significant increase in job interviews and callbacks for second interviews.
Overall, they were friendly and helpful and called to check in both before and after interviews. If I had to, I would definitely use their service again.

I have been taking classes at Alliance Francaise since August 2005. I am in the process of learning the basics, and have met a lot of interesting and cool people.
The teachers really try to lay the groundwork for speaking the language, rather than focusing on grammar and writing (although that's part of it too). The facilities are a little small, but only seem that way because of the many, many students, teachers and other Francophiles milling about.
The library is very comprehensive with books, CDs, and DVDs/videos.
Alliance Francaise offers short term, intensive classes, 10 week (1 class/week) courses and more. The other night I was waiting for my classroom to open up and was forced to endure the wonderful smells from a French cooking class; I plan on signing up for one as soon as I can!
The Alliance, at Chicago and Dearborn, is also easy to get to; the Red Line is a block away and there are several bus routes. The Brown Line is about a 10+ minute walk away.

Having been burned by UHaul several times in the past, I encouraged my boyfriend to store his stuff at Strong Box, located at Irving Park and Paulina, and just down the street from our apartment. The staff are incredibly friendly and the prices were good (an 8x8x7 was $50 for the 1st 6 months; after that, I believe it goes up to $90). Strong Box provides the lock.
They also offer a delivery acceptance service and wine storage. If you have auto insurance, storage rental will include a free truck rental.
The interior was also well-maintained.

The food is always good, especially the very fulfilling salads--I particularly like the salmon and avocado salad. Brunch can get crowded and expect the patio area to be filled with lots of families with strollers and dogs during the summer months.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, wine is 1/2 priced. The selection is small but decent.
The service is consistent and the bathrooms clean (because of crowds, I used the men's bathroom last time; it was practically spotless).
