Bark Avenue Gift shop has so many cute little gifts for your dog and for you, it's really easy to lose track of time when browsing in the store. It's small, but space is maximized to advantage. They have everything from dog sweaters to treats to items decorated with your favorite breeds.
It's right next door to a doggy grooming parlor, too!

Best Buy carries some good items, but in my experience the staff could be better trained. For example, a clerk who once checked me out displayed great ignorance when she failed to recognize an ordinary fifty cent piece and had to ask a supervisor if it were real. That was something of a shock. True, she was very young, but come on.... a fifty cent piece?
The store is large, but there is not enough of a variety to choose from. Instead, many multiples of the same two or three brands are on display. If they happen to be what you're looking for, of course, you can get some good bargains here.

I don't know why it is, but the chocolate chip cookies I can get at Safeway stores are the best I have found. The reason is that they're always soft, never getting hard and dry like other cookies....

(Of course, these cookies never last very long so they don't even get a chance to become hard and dry!)
Safeway has high prices unless you have a 'club card,' but not everything is included on it. The Bakery is always excellent, the goods are fresh and smell wonderful. Sometimes they even hand out small samples.

Pets & Pals has a good selection of items that are different from those in the other chain store, especially in the Fish department. The fish tanks are clean, and the fish appear to be healthy.
In my experience, the staff sometimes appear to be tired and overworked, perhaps they need an additional helper or something. They do seem to be knowledgeable.
Sometimes the store has kittens and puppies, and they have a number of hamsters/gerbils/etc as well as birds.

They do have coupons available sometimes, and a good fresh fruit section.

The Thomas Kinkade Gallery, located in the Tacoma Mall, is a truly amazing place. Kinkade is the Painter of Light, so the gallery uses light to showcase the many reproduction paintings. Control knobs let you change the lighting from bright to dim and back again, and this allows you to see the paintings changing colors and "lights" winking on and off. An incredibly amazing effect! You can compare the different paintings side by side, as well, with the light effects - much better than looking at them on a computer screen or in a catalog.

Long's also has a huge selection of personal-care items, hair care products, and bath items. The prices are good, and they do have sales and coupons!

Whether I need a microphone or a new cable adapter or a watch battery, Radioshack is almost sure to have it. Even computer motherboard batteries can be found here!
The store is well lit and well laid out, with all the small parts organized by usage (computer stuff together, telephone stuff together, etc). The staff are usually a little young to know much about electronic components, but every once in awhile one surprises me.
