no cellphones, no parties of five, no suits (and ties). There are MORE THAN 900 items on the menu, too, so don't go hungry, as you may die before you find what you want. I understand that as New Yorkers, most of us find quirky things to be absolutely great. However, I don't care how good the food is, I don't let ANYONE tell me what I can or can not do, especially when I am paying them.

Any place that serves breakfast until four in the afternoon deserves some press. They make standard food here, nothing particularly fancy but then again, isnt' that what comfort food is for? The tables are REALLY close together, but you'll be so busy eating that you won't notice. I tried Dutch pancakes here for the first time, and now I can't get enough.

If you don't have a clue how hard it is to feed a group of people that inculds both carnivores and vegans, that you might not appreciate this place. This is a dream place where no one has to compromise. Basically everything on the menu can be made for both, which to me, speaks volumes for the owner that takes the time to be able to provide delicious vittles for both sets. The smoothie earned another nod from me, since you can add great items such as echinacea (take THAT, winter!!!), yogurt or peanut butter.

But there is nothing wrong with that when the food is this good. It's like going to your grandma's house, the one that seems to feed everyone in the neighboorhood, regardless if they are family or not. The omlettes are my personal favorite (and if you mess up an omlette, I'll never forgive you). Not to mention that the staff here could teach a few people about service. Who says that new Yorkers are mean?

I believe it is called LoSide because it is on the LES, because it most assuredly isn't because it's
not a good place to eat. It's definitely a diner's diner, which means that it's menu contains pretty much anything you can imagine. The great thing about this place is that they do it all very well, and without the sticky menu, floor and kitchy decor. For breakfast I suggest the double dipped french toast, for lunch the burger and fries and for dinner, the lasagna and garlic toast. Yes, these are all basic dishes, but in my opinion, it's easy to make something new that no one knows how it should taste, but an old standard that everyone knows is hard to do just willy nilly. They do it all very well here.

and not Mayberry. If you go to a restaurant, no matter what or where it is, it's not going to be cheap, even in a so-called diner (a glass of oj is $5.00). And this is no diner. It's a modern western Chelsea restaurant (do you get that?). How about this:upscale comfort food. Ok, I like that. It's a beautiful place, very airy, comfortable and full of light. It also has a bar and has no closing time that I can discern.

I met a friend that was staying here for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Not at the decor, which fits right in with the Le Parker Meridien hotel that it is housed in. But at the fact that they can upgrade the standard fare yet not ruin it. Case in point: the foie gras brioche french toast or the WazZa, a waffle/ fruit/brulee concoction. And if you REALLY want to impress a date, they have a caviar frittata that costs $1000.

I have no complaints about the food, it is delicious. However, since this is a popular place, you should make reservations and be prepared to deal with less than spectacular service when it is packed to the rafters. And it is ALWAYS packed to the rafters, no matter what time it is (although if you're into people watching and celebrities, it might be worth it to you).
