Best in the area.

It's in a decent location, the atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming, and the food is mighty tasty. And they don't mind groups of ten or so sitting around talking for hours and hours. I am vegetarian, so having a decent selection of veggie food ( salads don't count.) is important to me. New Mother India delivers quite well. I tend to order the Shahi Paneer-- it's little cubes of paneer (a simple cheese) in a thick, spicy, reddish-brown sauce with a few veggies and cashews. It's aromatic, wholesome, and filling. You can order it spicy, but I find it pleasantly flavorful without. This is mostly habit, though. When I order other things, they're never a disappointment. Their breads, the usual naan, are light and tasty. I recommend the garlic naan. A sweet lassi will make for a pleasing counterpoint to the spice of the meal. The New Mother India lassi is never too thick or yogurty-- they're always perfectly mixed. Finally, I round off the evening with the Indian milk tea. It's a slightly spicy tea made with milk and it goes well with the Shahi Paneer. The service is good, and the food isn't terribly expensive. I'd probably eat there even if it was, it's just good.
