I am not exactly a young man anymore nor am I in prime physical condition. Nevertheless, I was eager to get back out on the pitch and play a little futbol. Sadly, my return to soccer was cut short by a nasty injury that occurs all too frequently among men of my age and in my condition: ruptured achilles tendon. Ouch.
Anyway, last week I saw my regular physician at the UW Physicians Roosevelt clinic:

She refered me to the UW emergency room for "fast track" treatment which means I didn't have to wait too long. Nice. After a round of x-rays and exams by medical residents and nurses I was given the diagnosis and told to go the Sports Medicine clinic for a follow up.
That visit was today and I was really pleased with the experience. After the requisite paperwork, I was examined by Dr. Greene who explained the pros and cons of surgical repair. (I opted to have it done) He was patient and clear with me which I appreciated. Not something you always get with doctors. After our visit, I was seen by a resident and medical student who were equally attentive. Once I'd spent some QT with the doctors a medical assistant helped me find a boot to wear pre-post surgery and answered any of my lingering questions about the surgical experience. My last stop was with the billing person who was very informative regarding what would be covered, what wouldn't, and the procedures I'd need to follow to ensure there weren't any issues with insurance now or later.
In short, it was as pleasant an experience as I could have hoped. The medical and office staffs were all nice, helpful, and efficient. If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing care for a sports-related injury, then I recommend getting care at UW Sports Medicine.

I've never eaten at the restaurant but the Signature Lounge is a terrific place to grab a drink. Birds-eye view of the city like none other (except for the Sears Tower observatory). We always took out of town guests here for a drink. Sometimes it can be a little touristy but the low lighting still makes it seem somewhat intimate.

Sea Garden serves the best Chinese food in Seattle in my opinion. In particular, the seafood dishes are spectacular. There's a fresh crab entree that's out of this world. When you walk in the restaurant the first thing you see is a fish tank brimming with crabs, lobsters, geoduck, etc. Hello lunch! No surprise the seafood there is so good...

Located in Ballard, the Other Coast is Seattle's finest deli and sandwich shop in my humble opinion. If you've got bright ideas for worthy competitors, by all means comment on this review as I'm a big fan of made-to-order sandwiches.
Anyway, the Other Coast's sandwich that keeps me coming back again and again is the Rajin Cajin. It's hot chicken sandwich served on a crusty fresh roll (I think). It's cheesy and messy due to the tangy sauce (some sort of a mayonnaise derivative) applied liberally on the sandwich. I've had others there as well that are quite good but I always come back to the RJ.
The Other Coast is worth a side trip if you're craving a big and tastey deli sandwich. There's often a line so be prepared to wait a little bit (no more than 5 minutes) for your order. The staff there is young, cool, and friendly so show the love and give them a tip if you feel the service warrants it.

There are several Crunch Fitness locations throughout Chicago. My wife and I went to the one on the corner of North and Sheffield. The gym is really conveniently located. It's got a lap pool, multiple weight lifting areas spread across two floors, spinning classroom, outdoor deck with clear view of Chicago's worldclass skyline, etc. I worked with a personal trainer there for two months and enjoyed/hated every second of my time with her. Chapel (that was her name) was really cool and knowledgeable but also a drill sargent. Despite my best efforts to slack and half-step, she made sure I got my money's worth. Crunch is a fantastic gym so give it a shot if you're in the market.
