KC's Best Philly

There is no such thing as a bad experience at Grinders. Located a little bit off the beaten path, by a couple blocks, on 18th, this place was opened in late 2004 by STRETCH, a local metal sculptor with world renown, in an attempt to create the kind of place he'd like to go, starting with the often imitated, but never duplicated South Philly sandwich(available with cheddar, provolone, or the authentic wiz).
Other bars have followed suit because of the wild popularity of it, but this was the first place in KC, or even the region, to serve Unibroue's delicious Maudite beer, on draught, alongside their already impressive selection.
Out the back door is the sculpture garden, in which a half dozen of STRETCH's massive creations sit, waiting to be climbed on by unruly patrons. The garden also offers a very good skyline view of Crown Center, and downtown in the other direction.
