Bertha's is a very interesting restaurant and pub located in the Fells Point locale. They have a variety of very tasty things, from appetizers to entrees to desserts--and a very interesting afternoon tea experience--but what they're really known for is their mussels, which are excellent. When you go, make sure you get a copy of their signature bumper sticker--which reads, appropriately, "Eat Bertha's Mussels."

Pete's Grill is a very unique place to stop--they have a very small shop, so there's generally quite a line if you go in mid-late morning. Also, all seating is counter seating, so not a place to go with a crowd if you plan to all be seated together. But, if you can get past the above hurdles--it's definitely worth it. Their blueberry pancakes are absolutely fantastic; I know people who drive back to Baltimore from other states just to have some.

Mount Washington Pizza and Subs sells pizza, subs, and Indian food--a unique combination for sure. The Indian food I can't really speak for, but their pizza and subs are top notch. One particularly attractive feature--they offer a coupon that lets you get two pizzas for the price of one. They are always very prompt with your order, and I've never been disappointed by what I've gotten. A good place to go if you're feeding a crowd on a limited budget.

Record and Tape Traders is a great place to go if you're looking for a CD or DVD in the Charles Village area and don't feel like driving. They have a good selection of mainstream music, as well as some more eclectic choices, available for purchase. They also sell DVDs, both new & used, although their selection of movies I've found can be somewhat limited. Price wise, they tend to run a little higher than the bigger shops, but they do win in the convenience column.

This beading store is a perfect place to shop if you're looking for jewelry supplies. They sell all manner of beads--expensive, fancy beads, as well as run of the mill plastic beads. They also sell all of the accessories necessary to turn these beads into whatever you can dream up. They are priced fairly and have a great selection. The only trick is parking--which can sometimes be a challenge.

The Hopkins Deli is located in the bottom level of the Hopkins House apartment building. They've recently redecorated the interior, setting up several little areas including a deli, a convenience type store, and a game room. Their food is a little pricey, but you if you live nearby, it's worth the extra money not to have to drive to the store. Another big perk--they sell Beer and Wine. In terms of the deli part, their sandwiches and breakfasts are particularly tasty.

The Broadview Apartment building has a lot going for it--it's fairly big, so there are many units available most of the time. It has apartments ranging from studios to two bedrooms, although the two bedrooms are fairly hard to get since there are not quite as many of them. It doesn't have much for architectural interest, but it does have an electronic security system and a 24 hr doorperson. Maintenance is good also. And the rents are very reasonable for the area. Overall, a good place to be.

This Panera is located conveniently on York Road--and has lots of parking. They serve a great cup of coffee, as well as the usual fantastic baked goods that Panera is famous for. Whether you're visiting for a latte and a bagel, or maybe even one of their fabulous sandwiches, Panera is a great spot for lunch with friends. I find this Panera is a lot less crowded than some other local branches, and for that reason is the one I like the most.

Nacho Mama's is a great little Mexican restaurant located in the Canton area of Baltimore. They serve a pretty mean taco--one of the better ones in Baltimore in my opinion. Also, their cheese enchiladas are fabulous. And their salsa. And their nachos. Pretty much anything on the menu is worth trying once! Prices are reasonable--in the 10$ range for dinner.

For those of you who've never been, Tuesday Morning is a fantastic discount home goods store--they sell everything from pots and pans to small appliances to art to hang on your walls. Combine a great selection of unique houseware items with a fantastic price, and Tuesday Morning will keep you coming back for more. This particular one is on the small side, but I've never been disappointed.
