Among the quaint little shops in Littleton is a shop called Silk Road. This shop carries a variety of gifts, such as wall hangings, decorative dolls, an array of cute baby shower gifts, and a room full of really expensive but really high-quality seeming glass bowls and other breakables. The shop has the atmosphere you generally find in those kinds of little shops: friendly and cozy. It’s a fun shop to walk through, but watch out for the breakables!

Most antique stores, even out west, seem to specialize in “fine” antiques. However, if you like the more rustic-looking pieces, check out Rusty Bucket Antiques, located in Old Littleton! The shop occupies two units, and both are full of rustic antiques and other odds and ends. When I was in there, the employee who was minding the shop was very friendly and helpful, and I was able to chat about antiques with him for quite a while. The store offers a great selection, and most of the prices seem to be fair. Overall, Rusty Bucket Antiques is one of the best antique stores I’ve shopped at!

I love the kind of bookstores that you can get lost in for hours; there’s just so many books to look at that you completely lose track of time. I like these even better when they’re used bookstores with a good selection of modern and vintage/antique books alike. Red Letter Secondhand Books is like that – the bookcases go practically up to the ceiling and are literally packed with books. There is a special locked case in the front of the store for the more valuable books, but there are still vintage books throughout the store on the regular shelves. The bookstore is also in a fantastic location: on Pearl Street in Boulder. A great place to visit if you’re in the area, and probably also a good bookstore to frequent if you’re local!

It’s good to keep one’s house well stocked with liquor, beer, and/or wine; you never know when you might unexpectedly crave a drink or be set upon by friends. However, if you don’t like to pay a premium for the alcohol you keep around, Pyramid is a good Littleton liquor store to try. They have good prices and a good selection, as well as a good location, just a few blocks west of Broadway on Littleton Boulevard. Definitely worth shopping at!

It’s funny how the best things sometimes come out of little hole-in-the-wall businesses. I bought my first car, a sixteen-year-old Nissan Z car, at Pioneer Auto Sales. Although I was at first a little uncertain about buying a car from a place like that, I quickly changed my mind. They were friendly and very willing to strike a deal with me, and the car I bought there was a reliable little beauty, despite everything I (and everyone else) put her through.

Pho 99 is an excellent Vietnamese restaurant. The atmosphere is very casual, but the service is friendly and fast. When I first went there with a family I babysit for, I was nervous, as I’d never had Vietnamese food; I needn’t have worried, however, as Pho 99’s food is excellent, and the menu offers a lot of variety. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone, even those who haven’t tried Vietnamese food before.

I can remember always being excited to go to the mall as a kid, as shopping was synonymous with going to the pet store. The pet store in Southwest Plaza, Pet City, was always a great pet store for kids – and, as a testament to its kid-friendliness, it’s always filled with children wandering from cage to cage, followed by weary parents. Pet City tends to keep their small animal cages fairly low to the ground; whether intentionally or accidentally, this allows children to easily see inside the cages. Pet City also keeps many of their small animal cages open at the top; despite their policy that customers must ask prior to handling animals, this allows people to interact with the animals much more than most other pet stores. Whether you are shopping for a new pet, or simply visiting the pet store as a reward (or bribe) for good behavior while shopping with your child, Pet City is the pet store for you!

I danced for more than twelve years, and Penny-Robin Dancewear in Old Littleton was where I always bought my dance attire. Penny-Robin can fit you with dance shoes, whether ballet, tap, or jazz. They have a large selection of leotards, tights, dance skirts, and dance pants. The staff is friendly and experienced with dance attire, if not dancers themselves. Penny-Robin is definitely the place where dancers shop!

How many times have you and your friends or family been unable to agree on what kind of food you want for dinner? Peking-Tokyo Express is an Asian restaurant that is sure to have a little something for everyone. The restaurant features three separate menus: Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese. Although I have not tried their Vietnamese food, their Chinese and Thai dishes are delicious – some of the best I’ve had, and I eat a lot of Asian. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, friendly without being overly loud or in-your-face. Take out is also a fantastic option, and best yet – Peking Tokyo Express delivers!
