Marlai Thai has become my family's favorite local Thai restaurant. The food is great, and it's family friendly. Take orders are filled quickly, and if it's not ready when you show up just have a seat at the counter, sip a beer, and watch sports on the TV.
The list of favorites is long. My kids love the won ton, satay, and the crispy duck. My wife and I alway enjoy the phad thai, panang, and cashew chicken. When we eat in we try to find a different dish and, while some are clearly better than others, we have yet to be disappointed.
If you are in the area - maybe before a Husky game - pop in for a bite. It's worth it.

I wrote this (http://members.judysbook.com/posts/content/review.aspx?ci=254880) earlier this week. Might be a good place for you. Go early.

Not exactly a sports bar, though they have a nice big screen TV front and center. The Montlake Ale House is a nice change from the standard offerings. It's a family friendly joint until 9 pm, when it becomes a true ale house. Lots of good beers on tap. Food is better than average bar fare - try the humus plate appetizer, the BBQ pork sandwich, and of course nachos.
Service could be quicker, but it's always friendly.

It's hard to find good Mexican in Seattle. Rositas is a cheap, no frills Mexican place with dependable food and good service in a kid-friendly environment.
They have a little tortilla stand between the restaurant and the bar where you get complimentary warm tortillas with salsa or butter. Chips and salsa arrive quickly. Menu is straightforward. Kids menu is also good.
Margaritas are always good, and they have a few flavors to choose from.
Couple cautions. First, the portions are big so if you aren't really hungry or a big eater go ala carte (they will do custom stuff if you ask nicely). Second, they have a tendancy to over-sauce, particularly if they get busy.
Do try the tacos carnitas, one of my favorite dishes. Fairly authentic small tacos with tasty carnitas, cilantro and onions. Mmmmm.....

I was a Honey Bear fan way back when they were near Green Lake. Used to get up early and trek there from my old Capitol Hill apartment to get warm pumpkin muffins. Then they closed. And I was sad.
A few years ago the Honey Bear re-opened in Third Place Book at Ravenna. Great space. Same great food.
My wire and I are pumpkin muffin fans. I sometimes throw in a currant scone for variety. My boys love the cinnamon rolls, with icing of course.
They've got just enough seating, particularly if you go earlier. Once it gets crowded the protocol is to grab empty chairs at the bigger tables, which means you get to meet new people. Oh, and they started offering wi-fi a while back, which is a mixed blessing (you can work, but seating doesn't turn over as fast).

Pair is one of our favorites. It's a neighborhood place near U Village. Specializes in small plates. If you just want a light bite order a couple plates to share. If you're really hungry order multiple plates and keep one or two to yourself.
Our favorites are the "cheese puffs" (I can never pronounce or spell it, but you'll see what I mean on the menu), the gnocchi, and the smoked salmon. Mac and cheese is a nice change from gnocchi. If you like your greens go for the spinich salad or the green beans.
Wine list is nice and approachable. Staff if quite knowledgeable and will spend the time to talk with you about the wine or help you do a pairing.
Only cautions - it gets crowded around 7 pm and they only take reservations for 6+ so you could wait a while for a table (never trust the owner's time estimates about wait time). Personally I don't mind much because you can get a glass of wine or a beer. And it does get noisy when it fills up. Otherwise it's good food and a nice atmosphere.

My wife and I ate at the Kingfish Cafe for the first time in a long time last week. Still darn good down home cookin'. Red beans and rice were great. Catfish was good, and the grits that came with it even better. Had a piece of lemon cake for dessert that was big enough for 4 people and really tasty.
Service was friendly and efficient. Atmosphere friendly and relaxed.
