I tried this local pizza place because I heard that they offer pizza by the slice. While that is true, the only thing I can say about that is "thank heavens" for I surely wouldn't want to eat an entire pizza that was that bad. It was just nothing to write home about--kind of bland and flavorless. To boot, we had to wait forever, it seemed, to get our order, even though the restaurant was not all that busy on a weeknight. Because I like to patronize local small businesses, I was hoping to fall in love with it, but to no avail. Even the decor is none existent. The entire experience was tasteless and bland.

This pub near 32nd and Lowell is always hopping! With a small interior and a few tables outside on the sidewalk in warmer weather, it gets full quickly. Part of the reason is the delicious fare and the energizing atmosphere of the restaurant. The environment just invites you to stay and have "just one more". With exposed brick, high ceilings, comfy seating and featuring artwork by local artists, Meade Street is truly a neighborhood institution that you will want to add to your places to visit list. They sometimes offer an open "mike" night with surprisingly good singers. If you live in the area, chances are good you'll bump into someone you know at this charming place.

Although I don't live in Arvada, I used to work there and when I did, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Arvada Sentinel. Their editorials I find are always insightful nd thought-provoking and they bring a real in-depth scope to the local news.
More importantly, if you have to deal with their staff on anything form subscriptions to classifieds to advertising, you consistently get a friendly voice and helpful advice. The staff there are an absolute pleasure to work with. With advertising rates climbing through the roof at the bigger Colorado newspapers, it's nice to know you can still reach a wide audience with a hometown feel at a price that is more affordable.

This is a family-owned interior design company that I would give my business to in a heartbeat. Owner Pat is remarkably clever and resourceful and she will go out of her way to give you quality design on any budget. She and her staff definitely go the extra mile and her ideas are wonderfully creative without having that "cookie cutter" designer look. She excels at all types of design--from contemporary to traditional and southwestern. Her showroom, located in Old Town Arvada is warm and inviting and you will enjoy chatting with her about your design needs.

This law firm was recommended to me to help me resolve an eviction of tenants issue on my rental property. It's been several years and although I was awarded a judgment, I have never seen any results. I finally gave up calling these folks to obtain information, as I was given the run-around every time I called. Even though the evicted tenants were eventually located and were working and we were supposed to attach wages to get back our money, nothing ever came of it and I eventually just gave up. I suspect that because my case was small, it just wasn't worth their effort as they get compensated on commission.
I hate to say it, but I will--this is a firm that deserves all those bad lawyer jokes!

I hear the golf here is nothing to write home about, but I must say their dining room has my vote. A recent lunch there had me being served an amazing salad that was fresh and tasty--with a tangy dressing. My companion had an equally good sandwich. The dining room was not crowded during a weekday lunch time (I guess everyone was still on the greens) and we were seated right away. It's easy to be in and out during your hour long lunch period. The waitress was pleasant and helpful--keeping out water classes full and fresh bread on the table.

For some reason, I always forget about this great place and I don't know why, for I am always very pleased whenever I go there. Just wast of the park, it's clientèle are an eclectic mix of neighborhood folks, yuppies, families and outdoor enthusiasts. There's a small covered area outside for outdoor seating in warmer weather and this is my favorite part in which to park with a friend or two an enjoy one of their fresh salads or their great Italian Penne Pasta and a glass of wine. The inside is warm and inviting with it's brick walls, fireplace and wood tones. The service is always good and their happy hour a great value. They also have pool tables if you can snag one!

With its jousting, Puke and Snot (if you don't know what that means, then you'll just have to attend next summer) and huge turkey legs, the Renaissance Festival is an annual tradition for my family. It just wouldn't be summer without a trip down to Larkspur to celebrate this event. Scores of characters in period dress (even the folks who don't work there!) make this a wonderful experience. Men in knickers and women in tightly laced up corsets and pointy damsel hats are all part of the fun. The shows are hilarious and plentiful and young girls will want to get their hair artfully braided. While it's a bit pricey, remember that it is a full day of entertainment and there are discount coupons to be had as well as specials offered. The jousting alone is worth the price of admission as the participants dual on horseback "to the death" (not really) in front of the cheering crowd.

The Magnolia Hotel is one of my favorite places to perform weddings. Located in the heart of downtown Denver, it offers elegance yet the comfort of a bygone era. It is definitely upscale, yet the down to earth staff are helpful and friendly. The weddings I've performed there are always elegant yet intimate affairs, with lots of mingling and laughter. The staff is there to cater to every whim of your guests and they do it well. Sambuca Jazz Café does the catering here, which adds a delightful European twist to their food. They can accommodate up to 200 guests in their ballroom and they have an on-site bar that is well stocked and ready to serve your guests.
