Sweet Tomatoes is one of my favorite lunch places. Their salad offerings are abundant and very fresh. The staff keeps things well-stocked and clean. They are famous for Sunday paper coupons which reduced their prices to a most attractive level--especially when you realize that it is all-you-can-eat. Their soup offerings are also plentiful, with many vegetable and meat offerings. Likewise their pizza and pasta bar.
Finish it up with some of their creamy soft-serve ice cream (or fruit if you are being good) and you will go away a happy camper. My only complaint about this place is that they seem to employ a lot of staff who don't speak English. I find this a bit frustrating when trying to ask for something or simply thanking someone for a job well done.

My daughter had her wedding at the Lumber Baron and we couldn't have been more pleased. The outdoor ceremony was held in there beautiful backyard garden with roses and other flowers abundant. The Lumber Baron allows you to bring in your own vendors (caterer, DJ, florist, etc) so you can have a lot of choice in making your day special. In addition to their outdoor area, they have a beautiful inside as well, with Victorian antiques throughout, a gorgeous staircase, and a third-floor ballroom.
Owner Walter Keller will be happy to give you a tour and tell you the history of this beautiful building. The guest rooms are spacious and comfy--each with a private bath and each with it's own unique flavor. Call them for information on their murder mystery dinners, too. they are so much fun!

Yet, like a train wreck, you just HAVE to sneak a peak! This is one of the Springs most noted tourist attractions, so it does have some of hokeyness about it. (Namely, the gift shop strategically located at the cave entrance!) The tour winds its way through a myriad of underground rooms and tunnels, some complete with colored lights (I told you it was hokey!) And of course there's the prerequisite commercial picture for which you must pose as your tour begins.
Kids will love this--there are quite a few stairs so be prepared to carry the little ones. Even adults make pick up a nugget or two of geological information if you listen carefully. It's something you'll want to say you've done once--but that will probably be enough.

When you've been around that long, you learn to get it right. And Michelle's does get it right. Their food is the best, topped only by their ice cream and chocolates (which you have to walk by to get to your table--these people are deviously clever!!) It has an ice-cream parlor feel, but they do have a complete menu as well. Great for lunch with kids. Their sandwiches are filled will all kinds of good things and their French fries are exquisite! They also have a good-sized children's menu.
But if you only get one thing at Michelle's let it be ice cream. It is the creamiest tasting and they have so many flavors and toppings, you won't know how to decide! It's a great stop between Colorado Springs attractions.

When you really want to impress (and blow the budget) the Broadmoor is the place to do it. The Sunday Brunch is a sight to behold. You'd better arrive hungry, or you'll never get your money's worth. every item you can possibly imagine is offered and the ambiance is pure elegance. Cloth napkins, silver coffee carafes and decked-out waiters and waitresses.
Of course, if you elect to stay there for the night, the rooms will be the finest offered. I stayed in one of their suites and I truly felt like a queen. A massage in the spa topped off the perfect afternoon. The Broadmoor concierge will assist you in coordinating day activities to make your stay pleasurable--including horse-drawn carriage rides, golfing on one of their premier courses, horseback-riding, trips to the nearby Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and much more.
A decadent treat!

Red Rocks is awesome. Come to a concert under the stars, an open-air movie in the summer, for a wedding, to hike or just to gaze at the glory of the beautiful rock formations.
For concerts, the acoustics here are like no other. weddings here are gorgeous affairs that need no additional decor, as the rock formations provide all the backdrop one needs. The restaurant and shop here is cozy and you'll get great service. If you have kids, stop by here on any old afternoon when nothing else is scheduled and let them blow off steam by climbing on the amphitheater steps. Bring you camera, for sure!

This is Colorado's old west at its best. With a decidedly "game" menu of elk, beef and the famous Rocky Mountain oysters, the Fort is more than dinner--it's an experience. The food is excellent and varied (even non-meat eaters can find a yummy dish) and the ambiance historical. (It really is a replica of an old fort.)
The restaurant has a center courtyard complete with bonfire and tepee (good for the kids to keep entertained--in fact, the Fort is very kid-friendly). A mountain man strolls among the tables, greeting guests and beating the drum for birthday and other celebrations. You'll definitely leave there with your belly full and your spirits raised!

White Fence Farm is known far and wide as THE place to bring kids. It also offers the best fried chicken dinners in the area. Kids can pet the barnyard animals, play on the play ground or visit the tree house. There's also a great country gift shop to poke in while you're waiting for a table--which you most likely will have to do at this popular and crowded attraction. Reservations are not accepted unless you have a large group
After your yummy family-style meal, be sure your kids get their token to select a gift form the treasure chest. In warm weather, they also offer horse-drawn carriage rides. In short, this is more than just a great meal, it's several hours of family entertainment.

The Mile High Flea Market has evolved into an almost carnival-like atmosphere, with rides and food booths mixed in with the vendors. That makes it all the more festive. From stationary storefronts that are there year-round to the tables of eclectic attic treasures offered by those who've just cleaned there's out, you probably won't walk away from here empty-handed.
As with most free markets (and this one is the biggest one I've ever been to) you should go into it with an open mind as to what you might end up with. I've purchased leg weights, a wooden step ladder, a motorcycle helmet, luggage and a garden bench at various times. You just never know. The fruit and veggie booths offer fresh produce of varying quality. Some are better than others, so squeeze before you buy!

Wind your way up Lookout Mountain (that's the one with the big "M" on it) to visit Buffalo Bill's grave and the adjoining museum. Okay, it's hokey--but it is a Colorado thing that you should at least bring your out of town friends to on the way to the Coor's Brewery tour. The museum houses the typical kitsch and memorabilia, and of course your kids will love it.
Even if Western history does not interest you, the views form the site are breathtaking. It gives the words "scenic vista" a whole new meaning. On the way back down the Golden-side of the mountain, there are places to pull off and the road. Then you can plop on one of the many large rocks and gaze out over the horizon, picking out familiar landmarks from above.
