Don't mean to be a hater...

Wednesday, March 08, 2006
Cafe Solstice is a super popular coffeshop on the Ave, and it's always teeming with cooler-than-thou hipster UW students. Though I like the idea of Solstice, I just can't fall in love with its actual existence. The service is ehhh, the chai is watery, and about 85% of the clientele (and 95% of the baristas) are way too cool for school. Once when a friend ordered a chai tea, the barista said, "Well, chai actually means tea, so you just ordered a tea tea" and had that snotty "I can't believe you are actually in my coffeeshop" look on his face. I don't know about you, but I usually pass up a heaping dose of condescension with my morning drip.
