I took my son to see "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" at the Sprouts Theatre several months ago to get him some culture! I told him we were going to see "Snow White" and he kept thinking we were going to watch TV. Well, this theatre is pretty cool because if the kids want they can sit on the floor in front of the stage. He sat with the other kids at first but then decided to sit with me. They had both adults and children in the cast. The production was great (although there was a scary part where some of the kids cried). Another great thing about it is that you get to meet the cast after the show. My son got a photo op with Snow White.

Ashleigh's Attic is a maternity and children's clothing consignment store in downtown Redmond. I find the store to be cramped and rather dark. However, children's clothing is expensive and I find myself drawn to consignment stores! They have lots of kids clothing, toys, maternity clothes, strollers, and other baby care items like bassinets. I have never dropped anything off there for consignment so I don't know what their payback policy is. If you are in the market for consignment clothing take a look at Ashleigh's - you are bound to find a bargain.

This is a relatively new casino that opened in Arlington, at exit 210. It is smaller and "friendlier" than its nearby neighbor, Tulalip Casino. I have heard people say they can play for 5 hours on $20 (I think I must bet more than they do). They have tasty food and if you sign up for the players club, they frequently send out food coupons. Although the Tulalip Casino is closer to Seattle than Angel of the Winds, I invite you to try out the Angel of the Winds so you can see how far your money goes.

Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood is a good all-around shopping center. They recently made some changes to make themselves more upscale a la University Village. Their outdoor area expansion added more restaurants, stores and more importantly additional parking spots (although it can still be a zoo on weekends). It is located in Lynnwood which is about 6 miles or so north of Seattle and in my opinion is a more attractive destination than Northgate Mall.

Despite Dr. Johnson saying things like "you're a super duper patient" and many other hokey things, we have been pleased with his work. Despite him having a really brutal dental hygienist, we return. We've been going to Dr. Johnson for about 12 years and he has always served us well. They are located in the Medical Dental Building which is smack in the middle of downtown, so if I have some extra time before or after appointments, I can do a little shopping at Nordstrom. They validate parking and you can either park at the Medical Dental Building (blah) or across the street at Pacific Place (yeah). I think he may be a bit more expensive than other dentists but I have never had a complaint about the quality of his work.

The tile in our master bathroom shower was completely falling apart and we were worried that the wall behind it was being damaged. I called About Grout tile specialists. The "grout expert" was sent to my house and although it cost an arm and a leg and my first-born child, the grout master did a high-quality job. It took longer than I thought (multiple visits to allow time for drying), but it was well worth it in the end. At the very least it saved us from having to do costly repairs on the wall behind the shower. If you are looking for a grout specialist in the Seattle area I recommend About Grout.

We solicited bids for painting the exterior of our house, plus a master bath, from many different painting companies. A-1 came recommended to us from a co-worker of my husband. They came in with a good bid so we hired them to do the job. They did good work and my neighbor (who apparently had nothing better to do!) watched them like a hawk. She said there were several young kids working for the owner, Rich, and he was always keeping an eye on their work and advising them. So I was happy with what they did. What I was NOT happy about was that when I called him (repeatedly) for work to be done in the future - like painting a nursey for an upcoming baby - he didn't return my calls. I am sure he was too busy with other jobs but he could at least call me back and tell me he was too busy. So I give him a thumbs up for the work that they do but a thumbs down for customer relations.

I love Staples and I love it for two reasons: their free after rebate items and their clearance tables. I have more Sharpie pens than I could ever want because they often go on sale for "free after rebate". I also have found reams of fancy paper on clearance for $0.50, normally $16/ream. I usually check their clearance tables about once a week. I think they are used to me.

We have had a couple of company functions at the Red Hook Brewery. First off, the tour is really interesting. I don't like beer so didn't try any but they sure served my co-workers a lot of beer of all different kinds. (The tour costs $1 but it seems as if you get tons of free beer samples, plus you get to keep your shot glass!) The food is pretty good and if you go there during nice weather, they have plenty of outdoor seating.

I'm sure it's been written about a million times but I live this superstore. If anybody ever feels like getting me a gift they can get me a gift card to BB&B! I can always find something I "need". There is a location very convenient to me at Redmond Town Center, with lots of parking available. My favorite things to buy are bakeware or storageware. Occasionally, I like to replace my pillows as well. The great thing is that they take Linens 'n' Things coupons as well as their own, even if they're expired. They used to take only one 20% off coupon per visit but now they take up to 5 coupons per visit at my store. Pretty cool.
