As a family, we try to get to Costco once every couple of months. We stock up on toilet paper, paper towels, soda, bread to freeze, croissants to freeze and cereal. They also have very good prepared meals such as meat loaf with mashed potatoes. The sandwich trays that they make (like the turkey and swiss on a croissant) taste extremely fresh. If you go to the Issaquah location, make sure to get there early because parking gets tight. If you have a loaded cart, sometimes the people who load up your cart at checkout don't pack it as efficiently as possible and things can fall out of the cart in the parking lot, so keep an eye on that!

My cat had been ill for several days and I took her to the Critter Doctor as a new patient. Sadly - and I hate to be depressing - but it turns out my cat had an abominal tumor and needed to be put down. This all happened in one day - today. :( The doctor was very caring and took lots of time to explain what was going on. The technician even made a memento of Kitty's pawprints for me to keep. Everybody was very kind and professional and made this difficult day better.

My kids started at Arena Sports Little Kickers to learn soccer. What a great program. My son is in "Big Feet" and my daughter is in "Hoppers". The instructors are very enthusiastic and encourage the kids to have a good time. Classes are about 50 minutes long and they are held in an indoor arena. Before or after class, your kids can play on some inflatables that they have inside the arena. Cost for that is $5 for members (I think it is $7 for non-members?). You can buy a "session pass", good for 11 weeks, for $25. Or an annual pass for $99. My kids seem to really enjoy soccer after only one class and I hope they get a lot out of this program!!

Yumiko Teriyaki is an old standby that's been around for as long as I've lived in my city (12 years). The chicken teriyaki has a bit of a black pepper flavor which makes it different than other teriyaki places around me. I also like the pork teriyaki. My husband and I will get one chicken, one pork and split them between the two of us. The vegetables are almost a slaw, but not quite. I don't care for the salad/vegetable but my husband likes it. The place seems to be as popular as ever and the owner is nice.

So yes, occasionally I go out for fast food. But I seem to be the only one between my husband and myself who likes Dairy Queen! If I am by myself and in the vicinity I might go there for a treat. I like the chicken strip basket with tartar sauce for both the chicken and fries. And then I treated myself to a childhood favorite, the Peanut Buster Parfait!

I really love Bed Bath and Beyond. I could go crazy and spend lots of money here, and sometimes I have. They have tons of housewares (beyond) and bed and bath stuff. I have found things here that I can't do without - my latest is the Orka oven glove. The great thing is their 20% off coupons. The guy told me that instead of taking one per transaction like they used to, they now take 5! So you can get 5 items discounted by 20% if you have that many coupons. They also take expired coupons and Linens 'N' Things coupons, no problem. Their website has complimentary gift wrap! I was very happy to see that when I sent my parents' expedited anniversary gift.

The Redmond Saturday Market is a long-time tradition that is held on Saturdays (of course) next to Redmond Town Center. There are many booths filled with handmade crafts, plants, gourmet foods, foods that are cooked on the premises. kettle corn, etc. I have bought very good quality items there including baby blankets, flower pots, kettle corn (hehe), toys, and garden sculptures. Everyone is excited when the Redmond Saturday Market opens for the season. The season runs from May-October. Make sure to check it out! Easiest parking is in the parking garages at Town Center.

My son DEVOURS books and it is often nice to go to the library for free instead of spending money at the bookstore. The King County Library in Redmond is a newish building (probably less than 10 years old if I remember correctly). They have a kid-friendly kid's section, complete with colorful characters on the wall. There's even a restroom that's supposed to be for children only, or children accompanied by adults (although I've seen adults sneaking into it without children, tut tut). You can check out up to ONE HUNDRED items at a time! They have self-checkout scanners or you can have one of the friendly library staff do it for you. They've expanded their parking lot so it's not such a tight squeeze any more.

So the Redmond Police Department is in some hot water with a lawsuit about a woman getting Tazered right in the middle of a medical emergency. From what the media says it sounds like this act was completely unjustified. I want to say that I volunteered at the Redmond Police Department for several years and it really is a good organization. It was great getting to know the officers and supervisors and most of them are very caring and amicable. They have a great volunteer support system - supported by a Community Policing Advisory Board and also a group of citizens that do routine tasks for the department (I did data entry).
