Miki Hayes ROCKS!!!!

I have three kids and have been through countless pediatricians....some bad, some great. Miki is awesome!!! She's an ARNP, and takes the extra, caring steps and gives the practical advice that MD pediatricians would never even know to give.
She has years of experience, lots of resources, does housecalls for newborns, has dogs in her office, gives little toys for shots, and gives a helpful old family doctor feeling to care. She involves the children in their care, thereby empowering them and giving them a stake in their own care (hey, my kids ask to wash their hands now because Miki made it fun - cool!!). She is the ONLY provider in all these years who understood my sons' allergies and asthma problems, and helped us come up with a realistic plan and local resources to help them out. Sometimes I kick myself for having to wait 7 years to find her!
She expects you to be a responsible decision-maker in your childrens' health care, just like a midwife. I thoroughly appreciate that she thinks that I know what I'm doing as a parent, and she does not talk down to parents. Breastfeeding-knowledgeable and very nursing-mother and midwifery friendly (her husband is a Lactation Specialist). She gives you the most information about vaccines and care plans, so that you can feel comfortable about your child's care and make your own decisions with her help and expertise.
I can't say enough good things about Miki and her staff. She even has her cell phone listed on her office voice mail so that you can call her personally after hours. How many peds can say that???
Best of all, she's never made me feel guilty for following an "alternative" lifestyle for me and my kids. She understands it instead of putting me down.
She has been so helpful to us, and we're so blessed with her as our childrens' health care provider.
