After attending the grand opening at The Growing Place Preschool in Gilbert, we decided to enroll my daughter. From when we first walked into the door, my daughter seemed very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and we were pleased when they went into detail of the creative curriculum they offered.
The school itself is one large room divided by low bookshelves creating different "centers", instead of segregated classrooms. The teacher ratio is very small at 9:1. They offer an AM and PM session with classes either Mon/Wed/Friday or Tues/Thursday. The tuition also seemed very reasonable.
They had immediate openings which was great. My daugther started two days later and has really enjoyed it there since.

NYPD Pizza is a great place for the whole family to enjoy delicious pizza. We have always enjoyed the food and service received at this location.
This restaurant is also very kid friendly. They have a tile wall that they allow children to write on with dry erase markers. My 2-year old loves writing on the wall. Also, they have FREE Kids Meal with purchase of entree or pizza on Wednesdays.
Also, if you sign up for their email list, you receive printable coupons and a FREE dessert on your birthday.

McGrath's Fish House is a nice addition to the East Valley as there are not really a lot of nice seafood restaurants. My favorite dish is the Shrimp & Chicken Rustica pasta. It is delicious.
The restaurant itself is clean and decorated very nicely. The staff has always been friendly. We have only gone for early dinner to beat the dinner rush and have been seated promptly each time.

The Arizona Museum for Youth is an interactive museum for children. It has a play area called Artville for younger children. This is where we usually spend the most time since my daughter is only 2. She really enjoys playing and making crafts there. Each time we have visited it is set up a little different depending on what the current theme for the exhibit is.
Also, on the second Sunday of every month, they offer FREE admission.

We went to take my daughter to Jeepers (aka Jungle Jim's playland) and we ended up leaving after we walked in and looked around. The rides seemed run down and very dirty. I remember going several years ago and it was a fun place for the kids. Now it is in definite need for some renovation before I will go back again.

A friend of mine really enjoys this restaurant and recommended it to me since I really like Mexican food. I really was not that impressed by it though. The restaurant itself seemed kind of dark and looked kind of dingy. The service was not that great -- slow and not very friendly. Neither my husband nor I cared for the dishes that we ordered. I do not plan on returning to this restaurant.

We were introduced to Red, White & Brew from some friends of ours. I have only had the pizza, but it is very tasty and delicious. I know others that have tried a lot of the different menu items and have liked each one of them.
The parking lot is fairly small so it was hard to find a parking spot on the Friday night we went.
They also offer carry-out which is how I had it the first time at a friend's party.

Fazoli's is a great place to get Italian food fast and cheap, but taste isn't compromised. You place your order at the counter and get a vibrating disc that will go off when your food is ready. They have a fairly large menu with salads, pastas, pizza and subs.
I especially love the fact that you can get all-you-can-eat breadsticks when you eat in at the restaurant. There is also a covered patio area if you want to sit outside or a drive thru if you want to take it home.

Serrano's has been in the valley for a long time. I have visited several locations. The location in Gilbert is always clean and decorated nicely. The staff and servers are friendly and prompt. The food is good, but they recently removed my favorite item from the menu...Pollo Rojo.
If you go there for your birthday, be ready to put on a big sombrero and get a picture taken while they bring out some fried ice cream & sing.
