Cass St. Bar and Grill is a little neighbourhood bar in PB. It's off the main strip so the crowd tends to be in a slightly older age range, 25-35, and more local than most PB bars. The food is absolutely great, including their seafood. People get take-out from this bar. For breakfast, try the Crabmeat Benedict if they have it, also great for lunch/dinner are their burgers, hotdogs, Oriental Chicken salad, and Seafood Gumbo.
This is a beer and wine bar, so be aware that their cocktails are made with Han vodka which is a half-strength asian vodka. But they have Blue Moon on tap and they serve it with an orange slice! So that more than makes up for that. Beers are in the $3-$5 range, food is in the $4-$10 range. This place is never empty from open to close and the atmosphere is pleasant and laid back. They have two pool tables and a shuffle board table.

Not your typical PB meat market, although definitely a dive bar. The owners did a big redesign sometime in 2003 which opened up the place a bit, nicer floors, more spacious. Perhaps the other reviewer went there before the rework. The main bar area has pool tables, a bunch of flat screen tvs, tons of Green Bay Packers memorabilia (beats me why), an electronic dart board.
They renovated part of the bar only though, so there is a back room that's still kind of dark, but I like it anyway, it has booths and is comfortable to hang out at with your friends and chat over some beers.
Foodwise, their wing sauces are uniquely great but sometimes the wings they buy (especially on half-price wings wednesday) are mediocre. They need to change that! Still I get them every time. The cajun skinny fries are great too.
Again, definitely not a meat market, so if you want to wear your sequinned backless top and scout for hot guys, you're in the wrong place. If you want to hang out with your buds after work, throw some darts, and try a nice selection of reasonably priced drafts, you should check out this place.

Cafe 976 is a redesigned yellow house with a sunny little garden outside that has a good number of people lunching, chatting, meeting with friends or studying at any time of the day. The food is pretty good too, I like the spicy eggplant sandwich, the portabella mushroom sandwich and the salads. The inside is decorated with changing local art and there are a lot of single tables usually taken by the studying/reading crowd.
Note that the order line gets long on weekend afternoons, and the cafe closes at 11pm every night. For the students, there's a lot of studying going on inside, but too few outlets and only paid wireless internet. If your work is very computer/internet intensive, this might not be the place for you.

This store is great to pick up cheap, standard stuff like tank tops, hoodies, belts etc... but don't expect anything to last past too many washes. And they are terrible about letting you return/exchange anything. I bought a belt there that one day later I found had a slightly bent buckle which made it useless. The owner was really reluctant to let me exchange it for an identical item, although she eventually relented. I couldn't believe it, it was two days later and I had the receipt and everything.
