Okay, it’s true: I’ve never had big pizza sober, but I can tell you that at 3 AM on a Sunday morning after a Saturday night of drinking in Adam’s Morgan, there is nothing better than the Pizza Mart. Yeah, there are other big pizza vendors on the same street, but this is the place to go. Be ready for very long lines, but don’t worry; with all the people and the bumping music, it’ll be just like you’re still at the bars waiting for beer… but instead, you get the best pizza you’ll ever have at 3am.

It used to be your typical low-cost Chinese place: minimum dine-in accommodations and mostly take-out/delivery. In the past couple years, it’s changed a lot. They’ve added some Japanese items to the menu and added a modern look to upgrade the dining facilities. But it’s still pretty much your typical (and loveable) low-cost Chinese place. So, I wouldn’t recommend the sushi.

Are you tired of the big commercial bookstores taking up entire city blocks and closing down all your favorite mom and pop’s places? Then, you should stop by Bridgestreet Books, appropriately named, as it is located on the Penn Ave-M Street Bridge heading into Georgetown from Foggy Bottom. This two-story store provides all the best sellers and popular stuff, but also carries a lot of lesser-known publications, especially of some wonderful local writers. Also, from time to time, they host readings. Perfect place for a literary-type.

Located right near GW’s campus, this is the perfect location to pick up supplies for an art project. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The selection is good too. The only issue you might have is finding the entrance. It’s on the second floor, above the Washington Sports Club.

This question was posed a while ago; so I guess the birthday mani/pedi is already all over. At any rate, I think it's worth mentioning that Georgetown Nails is great. The staff is incredibly friendly and talented. Walk-ins are more than welcome, but it's incredibly popular; so, I'd recommend making an appointment. My favorite person there is Katie. The spa pedicure is particularly good.

Really good -- and decently priced -- sushi. The service is fast; so, even during the busy lunch rush, you can get in and out in a good amount of time (under an hour). When the weather is nicer, they offer outdoor seating. They also offer delivery after 5:00 pm, which is just as fast as their in-house service. A couple doors down, they have a separate take-out area, where you can also pick up seaweed wraps, teas, and other items. A great all-around establishment.

A great restaurant and gallery, Palette will satisfy your appetite and your love of art at the same time. The chef treats the food like an artist, experimenting with unexpected combinations of flavor. They also offer an array of specialty drinks that offer up the same creativity and taste. If you can’t afford to stay for dinner, try popping in for happy hour and sitting in the lounge area, where you can order from the special and more affordable menu. Also, Tuesdays offers half-priced bottles of wines.

This is where I get my favorite ice cream: moose tracks. It’s vanilla ice cream with peanut butter cups and dark chocolate chunks. Unfortunately, they don’t always have this signature flavor available. Its 2000 Penn location makes it popular with GW students, which is inconvenient during the prime ice cream season. The place is really small and narrow; so the line is often out the door and there’s no room to move around.

Raku offers good Asian “tapas” with the traditional speed offered with this dining style. As soon as whatever you order is ready, they bring it out, regardless of whether or not the rest of the table’s food is ready. Still, you might find yourself waiting a long while for drink refills and things like that. The food is good and affordable, but it’s not what you’d want if you were looking for authentic Asian food.
