So far, Teaism is the best bubble tea I’ve found within the District limits, though I think it costs a bit much. My favorite food item to order here is the salmon bento box. All of the Bento boxes are great, though, offering a full meal for around $8. When I say full meal, I mean that they include a main dish with sides like edamame, a cucumber salad and sticky rice; the portions may be a bit small for some, but they’re perfect for me. Their larger dishes are good, too, but tend to be a bit much for me. As you might imagine given their name, their wide array of teas is what they’re famous for. They also sell Oriental-style teapots, teacups, and much more. Be wary of the lunch hour; it gets pretty packed, at this location at least.

I’m a regular at this hidden gem of an eatery, located in the back of the Strayer University's building. Despite its name, Stand and Snack provides plenty of sitting room. The couple that runs it is incredibly friendly and efficient. They greet everyone with a warm smile and memorize almost everyone’s usual. The food is really good and affordable. I like their breakfast sandwiches in particular. Their burgers, however, are less desirable. They also carry racks of snacks and some other necessities, such as tissues and Tylenol, for the typical offices surrounding their location.

I've already expressed some love for the Juice Zone on this site, but Robeks has got to be my top choice for fruit smoothies and healthy eats. Their smoothies include ‘nutribeks’ for whatever your health needs. For example, they’ve got Femme-bek to provide nutritional support for active women with calcium, iron, and folic acid; and Immuni-bek to stimulate immune system defenses; along with many more. You can also get these ‘nutribeks’ like vitamins, as they’re sold in capsule form. Plus, Robeks offers great salads, sandwiches, and other snacky goodness. Living healthy never tasted so good. A drawback may be the costs: a bottle of one of their nutritional boosts can cost anywhere from $18 to $35.

For a day of pampering yourself, head to Piaf. Be sure to schedule an appointment because walk-ins are unlikely to find some time in their packed schedule. It’s busy because it’s the best. Their specialists are professional and friendly. They know just how you like to be spoiled. Again, though, you will have to accept being turned away without an appointment. Also, it’s pretty expensive, making it good for special occasions and not for your everyday needs.

High Noon is my favorite lunch spot. They prepare your pastas, salads, and sandwiches fresh while you stand and wait. With numerous locations around the District, they’re quite likely to be near your office, wherever that may be. It’s great for picking up a quick lunch or for relaxing in the middle of the day with some co-workers. They also provide catering. The only reason I didn't give it all 5 stars is because it gets a little bit hectic with ordering and getting your food: you write your order on the standardized form with your name on top and they call out your name when it's ready. When it's busy, as it always is at lunch, it tends towards confusion.

I used to love this place; I even had a birthday party there a few years ago. Now, after all the changes, I love it even more. The setup is perfect, providing plenty of lounging and mingling areas without sacrificing the pool-playing space. The service is really good, though you might end up waiting a bit at your table; it's understandable considering the amount of space the servers need to cover. The food is your typical bar food, which works perfectly for this place. Besides pool, there are outdoor areas, two bars, darts, and tons of tv with all the necessary sports packages. Great place for a group or just for a fun date!

Sushi Taro is often referred to as the best sushi place in DC and while I like it, I think it's a bit overrated. There are plenty of great sushi places around and I'm not sure exactly what would distinguish this place so much besides all the talk.
Dining in is a bit cramped, but if you go a little early (like 6pm for dinner), it's fine. I prefer sitting at the sushi bar for direct service. They even have some traditional tables where you sit on the ground and remove your shoes.
The take-out is not so reliable. They often mess up orders and there's not a lot of room and time to make sure it's all there. The food definitely tastes better when dining in.
All in all, it's a good place, but I just don't get what all the hype is about.

The food was fine at the Woodley Cafe, but the service ruined the whole experience. Our waiter simply stood there without a greeting or asking what we'd like to order. He glared our orders out of us. Part of our orders came out in a good amount of time, while the rest took a long while more. He gave food to the wrong people and never came back to check on how we were doing. When we hailed him down to ask for refills or water or syrup, he seemed very annoyed about it. The worst part, though, was that, for a party of four, he added the gratuity onto our check. Then, when we requested that be removed, he hovered over our table and grabbed the check as soon as it was signed, only to express his disappointment at the much smaller tip we ended up leaving. It was the most attention he had paid us the entire visit. I will never go back there again.

Just over Key Bridge, China Garden offers the best dim sum in this area. The biggest problem, I guess, is that everyone knows it. You'll often find an event going on here, making it even harder than usual to get a table. So, be ready to wait for a while. Then, once you get seated, be aggressive in hailing down the carts of food you want. Depending on where you get seated, you might find yourself waiting for your food also. If you like this style of food though, it's well worth it. You can also order take-out from the dim sum menu, as long as you know what you want. This is a great place for bigger groups. Also, if you've never done dim sum before, I highly recommend going with someone who knows what's up.

I was really looking forward to going to Poste because of all the wonderful things I'd heard. I was pretty disappointed. The service was great. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The setup was also great, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and I loved that you could see into the kitchen. The food was what I did not like, however. They combined things I would not have expected and I'm not sure they work together (like rabbit and pasta with bacon; or fish and mashed potatoes with capers). They didn't work for my palette, at least, which I'll admit is not really that refined or sophisticated.
