this is where you need to go at least once. I met my boyfriend's parents for the first time at the restaurant on La Cienaga, and it was very intimidating. We had to dress up, we had a fancy table, there are waitresses wandering around with doilies on their heads, and the meat cutters with their trays of meat, and they're wearing metals around their necks . . . I also went to the one downtown once, which is a lot more low key.

It's not easy to get a seat here, even harder if you're trying for the cheese bar, which is where my boyfriend and I like to sit. Sitting at the bar is great, 'cause there's such camaraderie with the server and the people around you. This place is all tapas, so if you're super hungry, find something else or your wallet will have a huge hole in it.

If you're nearby a Cheesecake Factory, and it's late, then go for it. But if it's time for dinner, then expect on waiting for a very long time. Every time I've gone to the one in Sherman Oaks, the line takes forever, and the bar is very competitive. The food just isn't worth it. There's so much stuff on the menu that I can't decide on what to eat, and then I always just order whatever at the last second, and I'm never really satisfied with it.

The fries are always perfect, they have pie that I would kill for. The waiters are great. My boyfriend has given them all nicknames. Waiting for a seat is like a primal, terratorial thing. If you've never been, go there right now. Unless it's a Monday. Then go tomorrow.

My boyfriend and I have been going here for years, mostly because of its location. Easy walking distance away from the overpriced Arclight, it's nice to not have to also overspend at dinner. The food is consistently great with classic Italian. And my boyfriend loves the wine list. We took all our friends here for our New Year's Eve dinner and it was a big hit.

It's not like some restaurants where just because they look fancy they think they can skimp on taste. They have a great wine selection. Plus, the waitress complimented me on my dress, always nice.

With all the recent scares about pedicure places, I can recommend this place. I've never gotten a spa pedicure there, so I can't vouch for that. I just get the regular pedicure, and I've been going there for about two and a half years, and I've never had a problem. I have toes that get painful if they don't get a pedicure about once a month, and if the pedicure isn't done right and carefully, then it's even worse. They know what they're doing there. I don't even use the same person each time, everyone's competent. You can make an appointment, but usually it's not necessary. Generally, I can just walk in. The longest I've had to wait is maybe ten minutes. Have a relaxing time!

I'm sure your wife's birthday has come and gone, but maybe for this year. My boyfriend took me to this Malibu restaurant for our first Valentines Day and I'll never forget it. We went at night, so I didn't even get to see the great view, but just hearing the ocean was romantic. The lighting is great. We sat outside, with heat lamps that weren't too hot. Once we left, I couldn't wait to come back to see the view, which we did, for our fourth Valentine's Day, for an early dinner, and the view was absolutely worth it. And the waiters were funny and helpful.

Oh, it's so good. It's a drive from central LA, but if you're out running errands in the valley and you start getting hungry, this is the place the go. The menu is simple and perfect. The waitresses are classic: tired but friendly. They're sweet potato pie is the best. I have a weak stomach, so often times eating bbq gives me a tummy ache, but with this place, as long as I don't eat the whole sandwich, I'm fine. They're number is 818-780-6701.
