As posted previously, this organization is outstanding and they do a tremendous amount of good for San Diego. Many times a year they have a clean up day on the weekend and companies and volunteers come from all parts of San Diego. Everybody has a great time participating and being on a "team".
It may be work and picking up trash and debris but it's a fun time. I've volunteered along with many of my friends over the years and I've never heard one complaint from anyone. It's fun and something you'll feel good about doing. Not only for San Diego but yourself.

This is a pretty spectacular sports museum nestled right in Balboa Park. If you're into sports you'll definitely be in nirvana.
You'll find all sorts of different sports trophies, plaques, banners, accomplishments, etc during your visit. The displays are changed quite often so each time you visit you'll see something new. The museum broadcasts the HS championship winners live on the final night and it's aired on a local tv news station.
Parking can be difficult because it is Balboa Park but don't let that stop you from visiting.

This spooky haunted house is nestled in the historic part of Old Town. Old Town is fun enough to visit on it's own but adding the Whaley house just makes it better.
The Whaley house can be quite hokey but at any given time during the week you'll find classes of school kids taking the tour. It's an old tradition that even I remember doing.
The place is quite haunted and if you get too scared you can walk down the path and grab a bite to it.
